Johns Memorial Episcopal Church

Johns Memorial Episcopal Church Join us for worship in person at 8:00 (September-May) or 10:30 a.m. on Sundays or on our YouTube channel posted Sunday afternoons. All are welcome. Rev.

Johns Memorial Episcopal Church is composed of people of all age groups from many different religious backgrounds, with diverse interests and styles. What unites us is our faith in God, as revealed through the person of Jesus Christ, and we celebrate this unity through both our worship and our service to the larger community. Johns Memorial Episcopal Church, founded in 1879, is located on historic

High Street across from Longwood University’s Rotunda in downtown Farmville. Named for the Rt. John Johns, Fourth Bishop of the Diocese of Virginia, we are an important part of the life of the town and both Longwood University and Hampden-Sydney College. Johns Memorial has played an important role in the spiritual life and development of a number of bishops in the Episcopal Church, while many others who have attended were inspired to enter the ordained ministry. People who come to Johns Memorial Church reflect the diversity and character of a college town with multi-talented leaders in worship, music and service. Members of the congregation are active leaders in several local charities, and ministries include working with the college campuses, a dynamic and well-respected ecumenical Women’s Spiritual Direction Group and our Episcopal Church Men (ECM). Johns Memorial Church is an actively involved member of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia. We invite you to check us out and think you’ll like what you find!
