Our hearts are heavy as we watch the devastating news coming from Nepal and Tibet. On August 26, a massive glacial collapse in the Himalayas triggered flash flooding that sent water, mud, rock, and debris through communities along the Nepal–Tibet border. Entire villages have been devastated, roads and bridges destroyed, and thousands of people have been caught in the disaster.
Rescue efforts continue, and reports now indicate that more than 600 people have died and thousands remain missing. People are desperately waiting for news about their loved ones as rescue workers continue searching difficult, dangerous terrain.
As a church family, let us pray.
-Pray for those who have lost loved ones and for families awaiting news on theirs.
-Pray for survivors who have lost their homes and communities.
-Pray for rescue workers as they continue to search
-Pray for food, clean water, shelter, and medical care to reach those in need.
-Pray that God would strengthen all in this situation and bring hope in the midst of loss and chaos.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1
