Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament

Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament As cloistered contemplative nuns our lives are given over to the search for God and intercession for the needs of the Order, the Church and the world.
(1)

We are a Roman Catholic religious community of Contemplative Dominican Cloistered Nuns, withdrawn from the world to pray for the needs of the world, in perpetual adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. As Dominicans we are women of the Word: the Word of Scripture pondered, prayed, and studied.

The Feast of the Holy Innocents, observed on December 28 (fell on the Feast of the Holy Family this year). On Holy Innocents, we celebrate those who are in formation in religious life. On the Feast of the Epiphany, observed on January 4th in our diocese, the novitiate sisters entertain the professed sisters. This year, we had skits for both celebrations. The first four pictures are from December and the next five from January and include piƱata made by Sr. Juana.

Advent is half over, Christmas is less than two weeks away and we've yet to acknowledge the wonderful work done by Brent Heyer and all the volunteers who pulled together to pack and distribute 1877 Thanksgiving baskets. What an incredible display of one of the corporal works of mercy. May God bless and reward you all!

One more thing. We enjoyed a lovely visit with Fr. Fernando Antonio Garcia Fernandez, O.P., the Promoter of the Nuns of the Order of Preachers. Father has been visiting the Dominican monasteries in the U.S. and Canada and was in Farmington Hills from October 23-27. We had a truly blessed time.

We were blessed to be a stop on the Diocese of Lansing's Nun Run this year (Oct 18). Twenty-six women joined us for a brief presentation, questions and answers, and prayer, followed by a light lunch. Thank you to all who participated. Please know you remain in our prayers as you discern God's will for you.
More photos are available on the Lansing Diocese's page.

October 7, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. What a good day (and month) to pray a Rosary for vocations to our community. "The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest." (Mt 9:37-38)
A little help from His Mother never hurts!

A few months ago we shared pictures of Sr. Mary of the Immaculate Conception celebrating her 96th birthday. Today, we announce that Sister is newly born into Eternal Life., a destination she has longed for throughout her 75 years of religious profession. She has truly been a blessing to us all. Her smile will be missed but her intercessory prayer before the throne of God will be gratefully accepted. Rest peacefully, dear Sister.
Sister's Mass of Resurrection will be Wednesday, October 8 at 10:30AM (viewing begins around 8:30) The wake service will be at 7:00PM on Tuesday, doors will open at 6:30.
