Do you ever find yourself praying for a new blessing while forgetting one you already received?
Throughout the Old Testament, the Lord kept giving His people ways to remember.
When Abraham had a sacred experience, he built an altar so the place itself would remind him later.
When Israel was delivered from Egypt, they were commanded to keep a feast every year so the next generation would know what the Lord had done.
When someone had a meaningful spiritual experience, they bore testimony of it so others could be strengthened too.
Many kept records and journals, not because they considered themselves great writers, but because they did not want to forget what God had done in their lives.
And each week, we are given the sacrament. It is a quiet, repeated invitation to remember.
It is easy to move forward in life without looking back. We focus on the next prayer, the next need, the next decision, and forget the times the Lord already came through.
But remembering is not only about the past. It is about building faith for what comes next.
When we remember what God has done, it becomes easier to trust Him with what He has not done yet.
Gratitude strengthens faith because it reminds us we have seen the Lord's hand before.
This week, take a moment to think back. A prayer that was answered. A door that opened at the right time. Someone who showed up exactly when you needed them. A hard experience that taught you something you needed to learn.
What is something God has done in your life that you do not want to forget? We would love to hear about it in the comments.
