Daily Devotional: “A Heart For The Hurting”
Monday, September 7

Read: Galatians 6:2
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
There are hurting people all around us, and many of them are carrying battles we can’t see. Someone may smile, shake our hand, and tell us everything’s fine while their heart is breaking inside. Jesus never ignored hurting people. He stopped for the lonely, touched the broken, listened to the forgotten, and showed compassion to those others had passed by. Having a heart for the hurting means we’re willing to slow down long enough to notice when someone needs encouragement, prayer, a listening ear, or simply the assurance that they’re not alone.

God hasn’t called us to fix everybody’s problems, but He has called us to care. Sometimes the greatest ministry we can offer isn’t a sermon or the perfect words—it’s simply being there. A phone call, a hug, a prayer, a kind word, or a few minutes of our time can remind someone that God hasn’t forgotten them. Ask the Lord today to give you eyes that notice hurting people and a heart that’s willing to respond. You never know when your simple act of compassion may become the very thing God uses to give someone the strength to keep going.

When you’re rooted in Christ, the storms of life may shake you, but they don’t have the power to uproot you. Don’t build your strength on changing circumstances—let your faith grow deep in the One who’s steady, faithful, and unchanging. The deeper your roots go into Jesus, the stronger you’ll stand when everything around you starts to move.

Next Saturday, September 12th, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Rocky Branch, La., will be hosting its first annual Men’s Hunter’s Banquet. Come dressed in your camo, enjoy an evening of encouraging, inspirational music and speaking. We’ll be providing a great meal, as well as some pretty cool door prizes.

Guys, this is our night for great food and fellowship, so let’s come together in a big way! We’ll have this event in the church Fellowship Hall, and we’ll begin at 6 PM. We look forward to seeing you there!
