As Jesus prepared to leave this earth, He didn’t leave His followers alone. Instead, He promised a Helper and Guide—the Holy Spirit. After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples once again—and this time, His mercy was front and center. Peter had denied Jesus three times, and though he had already seen the risen Christ, his heart still carried the weight of failure. On the beach after breakfast, Jesus met Peter with three simple but piercing questions: “Do you love me?” These weren’t asked out of doubt, but out of compassion. Jesus was restoring Peter—showing him that obedience flows from love, and that failure is never the end of the story.
