One stitch at a time.

Part of what I love about physically making things is being able to see and touch the making. For me this is most often knitting, though the picture shows sewing two knit pieces together (a sleeve to the body of a cardigan). Even when sometimes need to undo to redo…mostly I stitch one stitch at a time. And then there’s a hat or a mitten or a scarf or cowl or sweater. Or just a coaster or potholder. It’s all good. Making by hand.

Especially on days when I see the world having more than its fair share of unmaking and damaging and stalling and people talking to take up airspace—one stitch at a time goes a long way to soothe.

St Mark’s is collaborating with the Indigenous Association on a Crafting/Making event during FM PRIDE: Sunday, August 9 from 10am-noon. Bring your own project or come and paint a rock, make a dream catcher, cross stitch, paint by number or knit. We will have supplies and teachers and snacks made by Tanya Red Road!
