This afternoon we buried the ashes of Pastor Jim Field in our memorial garden. Jim was an ELCA pastor who died in January 2011 and his ashes were stored all these years by a friend. It seems Jim felt very much abandoned by the Church toward the end of his career and had become reclusive in his last years. I’m happy we were able to provide a final resting place for him.

Join us Friday evening at 7:00 for a special showing of the documentary I Am Pauli Murray at the Fargo Theater.

This is also a sneak peak of the new stained glass window we’re commissioning from Gin Templeton in memory of Pauli Murray, which will be located in our narthex.

A few people expressed their concern about the extreme heat on Sunday at the church at Casselton. Julie Burgum has brought in a portable air conditioner which is going as we speak. However, due to the weather, I have decided to do the following:

Deacon John will be leading Morning Prayer with Holy Communion from the Reserved Sacrament at St. Stephen’s in FARGO at 11:00 a.m.

Fr. Jamie will be officiating at the service at the Cassselton Heritage Center in Casselton at 11:00 a.m.

Both services WILL be air conditioning in both places.

So, two opportunities to worship on Sunday for you convenience.

-peace,

Fr. Jamie+

Join us this Sunday at the Casselton Heritage Center (formerly the ORIGINAL St Stephen’s) and worship like it’s 1886. We’ll be celebrating Morning Prayer from the 1789 Book of Common Prayer, sing some traditional hymns, listen to the pipe organ and have a fun time celebrating 140 years of a beautiful building. (There will be no worship this Sunday in the Fargo church)

Our Peace Pole is back after being completely refurbished. The old Peace Pole was quite weathered, with the plates chipping paint. But thanks to Vestry member John Kurki, the new pole has been completely restored and is looking better than ever! Thank you, John!
