St. Benedict Parish, Covington, was first imagined by a group of German descent parishioners of St. Joseph's parish in Covington, who wanted a church and school closer to their Austinburg neighborhood. Bishop Toebbe approved the plans for the new church and the cornerstone was laid in 1884. Bishop Maes dedicated the church and two room school upon its completion in 1885.

Originally, St. Benedict church was a mission church of St. Joseph Parish, however as the number of families grew so too did the need for more space. The cornerstone for the present day St. Benedict Parish was laid by then Vicar General (and future Bishop) Father Brossart in 1907, with Bishop Maes dedicating the present space upon its completion in 1908!

Tucked away from the rest of the world, down a winding drive in Walton, Ky., occurred a moment of total abandonment to the Lord as St. Joseph the Worker Sister Philomena Marie made her first profession of vows, Aug. 15!

It was in 1860 that Bishop Aloysius Carrell laid the cornerstone for the first St. Ann Church building in the west side of Covington. Until the dedication and completion of the church in 1864, the Catholics of west Covington celebrated Mass in a family home, a testament of the faith of the early St. Ann community. The church building was dedicated December 11, 1864, and was entrusted to the first residential pastor, Father Adrian Egglemeers who grew the church into a budding faith community.

The relics you can find inside the current church were the successes of Father Louis Clermont and contain a piece of the stone of St. Ann’s room in Jerusalem, and the bone of her finger. Construction on the current church began in 1931 and the completed building was blessed by Bishop Francis Howard on June 19, 1932. The beautiful wooden accents and bright, old, stained glass windows remind everyone of the Churches rich history as part of the Diocese of Covington and invited all into more deeply into prayer and life with Christ.
