Summer hours! One Service on Sundays at 9 a.m. All are welcome! We welcome individuals and families from many surrounding communities.

Begun in 1890 as a private family chapel, The Episcopal Church of Saint Mary was given by its founders to the Episcopal Diocese of Maine in 1926 so that it might be a place of worship for all. At Saint Mary's, we are building authentic, vibrant Christ-centered community as we celebrate, honor and serve together. We live out our faith in a "big tent". We arrive at our moral decisions by appealing to Holy Scripture, thousands of years of Judeo-Christian tradition, and our own reason and experience. It is not surprising to find Episcopalians having a diversity of opinions on any contentious social issue of the day. Diversity is welcome, and unity is found in our common worship around the Lord's Table.

Today’s readings tell us of the God who drives back the sea and walks between two armies to protect a vulnerable people. God then turns to us and asks: Will you extend that same mercy to one another?

Jesus answers Peter's question about forgiveness with a parable that cuts to the bone: The same servant who was forgiven an unpayable debt then seizes his debtor by the throat, showing that he has failed to understand what happened to him.

Paul calls the Roman church to stop passing judgment on one another over matters of conscience, because we do not live to ourselves and we do not die to ourselves.

We are the Lord's - every one of us. The sea fled and the mountains skipped at the presence of this God; the least we can do is forgive each other from the heart.

Reminder -> Tomorrow we go back to two services on Sunday, we will have our Welcome Home Sunday BBQ, and ministry fair. Celebrate the beginning of a new program year with us!

Join us for a Blessing of the Backpacks at our 10:15 am worship service on September 13.

Children and their parents should check in with Guiding RAY in the lower level of the parish house on Sunday morning. The children will then bring their backpacks over for blessing during communion.

Students of ALL ages are invited (yes, that means college students and adults heading back to school)! And, teachers, bring your backpacks or work bags to church for a special blessing as all head back to classes this season.

Next Sunday, let's celebrate with our parish family as we begin a new program year!
**REMINDER: We go back to two services next Sunday: 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.**

After the 10:15 service, we will have a BBQ -> Saint Mary's will supply the burgers and hot dogs, but parishioners can bring a sharable-size side dish, salad (if last name begins with A-R) or a dessert (if last name begins with S-Z.) Great!

Ministry Fair: During our social gathering time following both services, each ministry in the church will be prepared to chat about what they do and share their particular mission in the church and community. Come with your curiosity and open-heart.

Yesterday, we celebrated the music ministry of James Kennerley and sent him off with cake, gifts, and song to his next call in Georgia. We will miss you, James. Thank you for sharing your musical and liturgical gifts with Saint Mary's!

Today we’re reminded of a people on the threshold of liberation, told to eat in haste with sandals on their feet and staff in hand, because God is eager to deliver. Paul strips the law down to its irreducible core — love your neighbor as yourself — and then sounds the alarm: the night is far gone, the day is near, so put on the armor of light and put on the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus gives his church a demanding and hopeful vision of community: go directly to the one who has wronged you, pursue reconciliation with patience and witnesses, and trust that where two or three are gathered in his name, he is there in the midst of them.

In this week’s readings, God speaks from a burning bush that is not consumed, revealing the divine name to a reluctant Moses: I Am Who I Am. God sends him directly toward the suffering he had fled.

That same holy ground runs beneath Paul’s breathtaking vision of the Christian life: genuine love, hospitality extended to strangers, evil overcome not by force but by good, enemies fed rather than conquered. Jesus makes the cost explicit: Take up your cross, lose your life to find it.

The God who grafts love into our hearts and brings forth the fruit of good works is the same God who sends us, like Moses, back toward the very place we thought we could not go.

Calling all parents -> Guiding RAY Informational Meeting on Sunday, August 30!

Join us after the 9 am service for an informational meeting regarding the upcoming year in Guiding RAY. We hope to give families, especially those who may be new or unfamiliar with our Sunday school program, an idea of what to expect. We will also view the Guiding RAY space so that we can answer any questions regarding the opening of the new childcare center.
