“Focus on Christ” Daily Devotional: April 23rd

“Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them.” — Isaiah 55:7 (NLT)

Grace always invites response.

It is not forced.
It is not imposed.
It calls.

God’s mercy is extended freely, but it is received through turning. Repentance is not punishment — it is the doorway back into alignment with God.

This is where grace is often misunderstood. Grace is not God overlooking sin while we continue unchanged. Grace is God making a way for us to return and be restored.

When Christ is our focus, repentance stops feeling like loss. It becomes restoration.

So today, we turn fully — not halfway, not hesitantly.

That’s what it looks like to live focused on Christ—
not clinging to sin, but returning to mercy.

“Focus on Christ” Daily Devotional: April 22nd

“The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.” — Psalm 103:8 (NLT)

This is not what God occasionally does.

This is who He is.

Compassion is not situational for God. Mercy is not something He reaches for reluctantly. He is slow to anger because love is not a reaction in Him — it is His nature.

We tend to measure God through our own emotional patterns. Quick to frustration. Slow to forgive. Easily irritated. But Scripture corrects that distortion.

God does not respond like we do.

When Christ is our focus, we begin to trust the steadiness of God’s character. His patience reshapes ours. His mercy recalibrates how we respond to others.

So today, we rest in who God is — not in how we feel.

That’s what it looks like to live focused on Christ—
not projecting our nature onto God, but being transformed by His.
