Dear fellow Fallbrook community residents,
We the members of the Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery Association deeply regret the pain and disappointment that we all as a community have felt over the cancelation of this year’s Dia De Los Mu***os celebration at the Cemetery. The Cemetery Association is made up of volunteers from throughout the community who care, just as you do, about the cemetery and all of the loved ones who are interned there, as well as the families of those who carry their memories. The celebration of those people and remembrance has always been a responsibility taken very seriously by everyone involved at the cemetery.
The decisions made in the daily running along with the long term preservation of this sacred place are not always easy. Because we also have loved one buried there, we are constantly reminded that our opinions are not the only valid point. We have been able to make these changes because we listen to you (our community) and to your needs. Race or religion does not and will never ever play a role in how the Cemetery is managed. You would not tolerate such behavior and neither do we. That being said, some decisions have to be made even when they are not popular or easily explained.
We know that you can understand how hard running a business is, especially one that deals with the public in some of the hardest times in their lives. Finance is always a factor, but not the prevailing factor in this situation. The cost of this event is not large (much more than $200, closer to $1,600) when taken in context. There were many operational factors that the Cemetery Association have been and are working on that brought about the need to cancel this event. Some of these decisions have made it possible for the community (our clients) to have a wider range of choices when it comes to funeral service.
We do not control other aspects of the community. Nor do we promote any outside agenda. We first and foremost are here to maintain the final resting place of many of your departed loved ones. We do this with great respect and humility, without regard to race, religion or financial statues. We are volunteers, doing what we can, when we can for all Fallbrook residents. We hope to reinstitute these and future events as soon as possible. And we hope that when we do we can all work together to create meaningful and beautiful memories for everyone involved.
Sincerely,
Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery Association
