Joshua felt unqualified to fulfill the role of taking over after Moses, but God promises to be with him every step of the way. We might not understand or we may even question God’s plan, but watch what can happen with strict obedience to God’s directions. Walls can crumble, giants can be overtaken, impossible things are accomplished. The same God is with us today!! 🏰 🎺 🧱

We find the Israelites in Exodus 16:2-21; 17:1-4 focusing on what they used to have instead of focusing on God. As they were traveling in the wilderness, they longed to be back in Egypt where they had food and shelter. At the
same time, they seemed to forget that in Egypt they were slaves! They were so caught up in what they used to have, that they were missing out on what God was doing in their lives right then and there.
When you focus on what you used to have,
you can miss what you have now. There are times we look back on parts of our life wanting to go back and live those moments again. Kids may want to go back to preschool when they didn't have homework forgetting that they had an early bedtime AND had to take a nap during the day. When that happens, they forget that right now is pretty great. Times may be hard, but God has us here for a purpose. We can trust Him with the details.
Philippians 4:12b (NIrV), "I have learned the secret of being content no matter what happens. I am content whether I am well fed or hungry. I am content whether I have more than enough or not enough." Even when you think life was better in the past, the truth is that God is still with you right now. He is guiding your steps as you follow him into your future. You can be content knowing that God is always faithful.

Exodus 13:17-14:31, Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, but found himself up against an impossible scenario: the Red Sea in front of them and Pharaoh's army chasing them down from behind. Only God could save them. Moses stood strong in the face of fear and trusted God to do what only God could do-part the Red Sea and create dry ground for the Israelites to escape. Our God is truly the God of the impossible.
You can do what you should even when things seem impossible. We may not face the Red Sea or an army of angry Egyptians, but we will face moments where what we need to do will feel impossible to us. When that happens, we can remember that we can trust God no matter what. God is bigger and stronger than anything we face. Just like Moses and the Israelites, God can do the impossible in our lives too.

Moses and Aaron faced a huge obstacle in leading the Israelites out of Egypt, and his name was Pharaoh. Pharaoh did not recognize the Lord’s authority: “Who is the Lord that I should obey him by letting Israel go?” (Ex. 5:2) Pharaoh hardened his heart against the Lord, but all of this fit into God’s plan to reveal to Pharaoh—and all of Egypt—who He is.
First, God sent a series of plagues that wrecked Egypt. The plagues were acts of judgment designed to show the Egyptians who God is.

The tenth plague was the most severe and had the greatest impact on the Egyptian people. God told Moses that around midnight, every firstborn male in Egypt would die. But God gave specific instructions to the Israelites. They were to slaughter a lamb or goat and put its blood on their doorposts. The blood on the doorpost would be a distinguishing mark. When God saw the blood, He “passed over” the house.

The Israelite people were sinful, and they deserved death just as much as the Egyptians did. But God graciously provided a way out. By marking their doorposts with the blood of a lamb, they were spared from the judgment and death they deserved. The lamb was killed instead. The heart of the gospel is found in the story of the Passover: Jesus never sinned, but He was crucified for our sins. We deserve death, but He died instead.

The final plague did more than prove God’s
power to Egypt, it pointed forward to when Jesus would come. By His grace, God spared the Israelites from judgment by requiring the blood of a lamb. Jesus is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. His death was the ultimate sacrifice, and those who trust in Christ are under His saving blood and will be passed over in the final judgment. 🩸 🚪 🐑

We continue our look at courage in Exodus. God calls Moses to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt. Last week God talked to Moses from a burning bush and told him to go talk to Pharoah and tell him to let God’s people leave Egypt. Moses gives excuse after excuse for why he's not the person God should use. But Moses doesn't have a choice; God has chosen him. Now it is time for Moses and his brother Aaron to go talk to Pharaoh 🤴 🦯 🐍 . Even though Moses is frightened, he trusts God and confronts Pharaoh to let God's people go. In the end (next weeks lesson😉), God's power triumphs and Pharaoh releases his hold on the Israelites.
You can do what you should even when you
don't feel ready. We all face times when we feel like we're supposed to do something, but fear that we won't have what it takes to get it done. We can have courage to follow through knowing that God can give us what we need to get the job done.

We had a great Sunday today! We talked about how we are all blessed with some amazing earthly fathers and Godly male influences in our lives. We also talked about the limitless loving Father. How God’s love and determination to see the lost return to him and how unconditionally loved we are by Him! Happy Father’s Day to all the men who love their children and bring them each Sunday to get to experience the ultimate love of knowing God!

Sometimes we are like Moses. God can show Himself to us and tell us His plan and what He wants us to do, but why are we so reluctant to obey? Why are we so reluctant to have faith that He will equip us if He says He will. Freedom comes on the path of obedience. Just start walking ....

Sometimes the path of uncertainty may seem overwhelming. You may feel as if you are a helpless baby floating down the river alone. But take heart knowing God has never left you! His protection and plan for your life are perfect. You don’t know what amazing things he can accomplish through you on the other side of that river. 🏞✝️🙌.

Last Sundays lesson that didn’t post 🤭.
We finished up our 2 part lesson on Joseph. There are so many important lessons we can learn from him. Sometimes life “isn’t fair” or things happen to us that are out of our control. God is always with us though. If we stay obedient and continue to serve Him even in the hard times, you never know what great things you can accomplish with Him. Also how many of us would have been willing to forgive the brothers? Sometimes we aren’t very quick to forgive, even though Christ has forgiven us!

“No one has greater love than the one who gives his life for his friends.” - John 15:13

Sacrifice is not natural for us, especially in our world today. We are selfish people who think only of ourselves. Jesus wants us to be different. He wants us to be living sacrifices that will put God and others ahead of ourselves.

Memorial Day is a special occasion to remember the men and women who served this country in the military. We remember the sacrifices they made, leaving their homes and families behind, to put their lives on the line. Some of those heroes were wounded. Some of them died. For all of them, we lift up our flags and we wave them in salute, thanking them for their service.

What do you think drives a person to make such a sacrifice?

For the people who served our country, it was a belief in something bigger than themselves - America. They were willing to put the needs of others - their country and the people they defended - ahead of their own.

That's the same reason Jesus came - to put our needs ahead of his, and die for our sins. On Easter Sunday, we raise a different symbol to remind us of what Jesus did. We look to the cross, and we remember what it means to put God and others first.

On this Memorial Day, whenever you see these flags, I hope you will remember the sacrifices our veterans made. Take a moment to thank God for their sacrifice, then thank him again for the cross and the sacrifice Jesus made for us!
