Love INC of Oscoda County Love In the Name of Christ is a non-profit network of churches offering various types of assistance to residents of Oscoda County through a call-in center.

Love In the Name of Christ (Love INC) of Oscoda County is an affiliate of Love INC National, founded in 1977. See www.loveinc.org. Calls to the Love INC Clearinghouse are matched with church ministries, volunteers from partner churches, and other Christian organizations and government agencies. Needs met have ranged from furniture and appliances to transportation, food, firewood, clothing, medical

equipment and financial counseling. Love INC is not a bill assistance program but helps to make referrals to places that may help. ReCreations Shoppe is a gift store of used and created items with space to create, upcycle and repurpose many different things. Donations and consignments of hand-crafted items are accepted.

Tips for Staying Cool from MDHHS:
• Limit your time in the heat.
• When it is above 90° F, find somewhere with air conditioning or take cool showers or baths.
• Don’t rely on electric fans to stay cool.
• Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing.
• Avoid direct sunlight.
• Watch the forecast. Give yourself time to adjust to the hot weather.
Tips for Staying Hydrated:
• Drink more water than usual.
• Drinking more often is better than drinking large amounts infrequently.
• Drink before you get thirsty.
• Avoid alcohol or liquids that have high amounts of sugar and/or caffeine
• When working or being active in the heat, drink about one cup of water every 15–20 minutes. Drink about one quart of water per hour.
• Drinking WATER is the best way to stay hydrated while working in the heat. It is also important to eat regular meals that replace the salt lost from sweating.

Beware the Heat this week! Please read these tips from MDHHS:
It only takes two minutes for a car to reach unsafe temperatures.
Every year children and pets left in parked vehicles die from heat
stroke. Heat stroke is the leading cause of non-crash, vehicle
related deaths in children under 15.
• Never leave a child, a person with a disability, or pet in your
car, even if the windows are open.
• Even the most caring and watchful person can forget a child
or pet is in the vehicle. Always check to make sure all children
and pets are out of the car before locking it and walking away.
• Teach children that cars are not safe places to play. Store your
keys out of reach of children.
• Leave pets at home when you can.
Never leave infants, children, or pets in a parked car.
A child’s body warms three to five times faster than an adult’s.

YARD SALE REPEAT! Great turn-out last weekend but holding it again Thurs-Fri 10-4, Sat. 10-2. Some new additions. Very nice white bookshelves 70x30x12 for just $30, adjustable shelves.

Dear friends and neighbors, we can pray this winter sleet and ice storm doesn't knock out power, but always good to be prepared!
