As we are reminded in Ecclesiastes 3, there is a time for everything. It is with a heavy heart that we said goodbye to Immanuel Lutheran Church and Pastor Michael Dunaway (retirement) this past Sunday (December 25th, 2022). This was not the last “official” worship service, but the doors will be closed until the final service later on this spring.
There was always something special that made Immanuel more than just Church. It was the sense of family and love that you could feel every time you walked in the door. My family and I have been at Immanuel for almost 2 decades. Little did we know back then the family we would join when we started going. Although we may not see everyone every Sunday now (depending on which congregation we join), we will always be family.
As we move forward, Immanuel may be gone but will never be forgotten. Our walk with Christ may look different but as it says in Hebrews 13, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever”. No matter where we now chose to worship, He will be the same as He was before and after Immanuel’s existence.
Best of luck to Pastor Dunaway on your new chapter of life. You will be sorely missed!! We love you very much and wish nothing but the best for you!! Thank you for your 15 years of loyal service!!
Pastor Kinney, we are more than thankful to have you! We are also excited to see where you take the partnership into the future! Having you here at this time is truly a blessing!! Thank you for all you do!
To the rest of the members of Immanuel’s congregation (past and present), I look forward to seeing you continue being active members no matter which congregation you chose. We may not be inside of Immanuel’s walls, but we are still members of Christ’s family!!
Yours in Christ
