In 1946 in the hills of Northwest Georgia a local school teacher named Miss Alice Nix lived in the Gillespie Hollow community, just outside of Fairmount, Georgia. Miss Nix began to grow concerned about a number of children playing outside on Sunday mornings and not attending church. Miss Nix wanted to provide these children with a place to attend Sunday School, so she donated one acre of land for

a Mission to be built upon. Different preachers from the area began to come and preach at the mission, and hold protracted meetings. Different denominations were attending the mission, Baptist, Methodist, and Church of God were commonly found in the services. One Sunday a young Robert Verland (Sammy) Allen was asked to come preach at the mission. Allen was asked to come have lunch at Hubert and Frances Goss’ home. While resting at the home after lunch, The Holy Spirit impressed Bro. Allen that the mission should be constituted into a Baptist church. On October 22nd, 1961, fourteen years after the Mission was started, they met to constitute the Mission into a Baptist Church, and Bro. Sammy Allen was called as Pastor and has remained pastor ever since.
