Paul speaks at the Areopagus and convinces the intellectual elite that Jesus has risen. It was the Gospel he preached. The Gospel demands a response. If you believe it, everything about your life will change. If you reject it, you have lost everything.

Are you weary and tired from your labor? Do you feel like throwing in the towel because the dream you once had still hasn't materialized? Is the fruit you hoped for but haven't seen worth all the planting and watering you've done? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this morning's message may speak to you.

What does it mean to be a Berean? It is a well-respected Christian term indicating someone who uses Scripture to fact-check sermons and various Christian teachings. In today's culture, with so many false teachers declaring all sorts of things about the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, being a Berean is commendable. Today's message looks at Paul's journey to Berea. We can learn a lot about not believing everything we hear.

A Texas pastor is drawing attention after sharply rebuking Rev. Babs Miller over comments she made about some of Christianity’s foundational beliefs.

Pastor Josh Howerton of Lakepointe Church responded to footage in which Miller questioned traditional Christian teachings surrounding Jesus, including the virgin birth and Christ’s atoning death.

Howerton’s response was blunt: “Get the hell out of a pulpit.”

He explained his rebuke through Galatians 1:8, where Paul gives a severe warning about preaching a gospel contrary to the one originally proclaimed.

The language is confrontational, but the biblical issue underneath it is significant.

Christianity is not simply a collection of moral lessons. The New Testament places the identity, death and resurrection of Jesus at the very center of the Gospel.

Paul wrote that Christ died for our sins, was buried and was raised again.

That means Christians are instructed to examine what they hear — even when it comes from someone standing behind a pulpit.

“Test everything; hold fast what is good.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:21

A title does not determine whether teaching is biblical.

Scripture remains the standard.

Today's message looks at the miraculous earthquake that took place when Paul and Silas began praying and worshiping God in the midst of their unjust incarceration. What do we do when things do not go as planned? Do we pray and worship, or do we fear, lose hope, and complain? We should be encouraged by the model of these two heroes.

Often we pray for the Holy Spirit to lead us and make His will known. However, truth be told, sometimes we struggle to accept His decision when His reply is, "No." How do we handle these mystifying times? If that is you, this message may present considerations you haven't pondered before.
