Day 2: The Fire That Refines

1 Peter 1:6-9

When precious metals are purified it requires heat.

No one looks at raw gold and complains that it had to be placed in the furnace. Everyone understands the furnace is necessary.

Yet when your own life enters those times of heat your first instinct is often to ask, "Why is this happening to me?"

Peter says your faith is more valuable than gold. Think about that.

God considers your faith so precious that He is willing to refine it carefully.

Trials often remove things you did not realize you depended upon—comfort, control, security, routines, health, finances, plans.

And when those things are stripped away, you begin learning again what has always been true:

Christ is enough.

The fire is painful, but impurities rarely leave without heat. Though your trial may feel like destruction, God is using it as purification of your faith.

What comforts, habits, or securities might God be exposing through your current struggles? What do you need to do in response to what He's showing you?

The message Sunday reminded you of something you probably already know but often forget in difficult moments: trials can be painful. No one asks for them. No one enjoys them. Yet James teaches us that God is doing something deeper than we can immediately see. This week, you'll walk through five truths that help you look beyond the pain and remember what God is producing in you.

Trials are never easy, but God never wastes them. This week, discover how God uses life's hardest moments to strengthen faith, produce endurance, and shape mature believers.

Day 1 : When Faith Gets Tested

James 1:1-5

You probably do not mind learning new things until the learning comes with a test. Most people feel that way spiritually too. We enjoy growth until growth becomes uncomfortable.

James begins with an uncomfortable truth: your faith will be tested.

Not might be tested, it will be tested.

The difficult thing you are facing right now may feel random, frustrating, unfair or undeserved. But James reminds you that God is not absent during testing. He is working.

Testing reveals what is already there. It exposes weaknesses and uncovers misplaced trust. It shows where your confidence truly rests. This is why trials often feel so personal, they touch the parts of our lives we usually try to protect.

The encouraging truth is this: God does not test your faith to destroy it. He tests your faith to strengthen it.

The trial may not feel productive today, but God is at work in the challenge.

Consider this...
What difficulty in your life right now is revealing where your trust has been placed?

Before Sunday, take a few quiet minutes and ask, “What has been filling my house this week?” Bring that answer honestly before the Lord. Then come back to church ready not just to hear another message, but to worship the Savior who alone can fill the empty places.

Day 5: Let Christ Fill the House

Ephesians 5:15-21

The Christian life is not just cleaning out evil. It is being filled with the Spirit.
That means Christ is not to be a guest in the house. He must be Lord of the house.

Your mind needs to be filled with His Word. Your mouth needs to be filled with His praise. Your relationships need to be shaped by humility. Your decisions need to be brought under His authority.

The goal is to do this daily.

You let Christ fill the house when you confess sin instead of hiding it. You let Him fill the house when you pray before reacting. You let Him fill the house when you obey Scripture even when culture calls it outdated.

The world offers empty freedom. Christ offers a holy fullness.

Do not settle for a swept house.
Belong to Him fully.

What is one specific place in your life where Christ needs to move from “included” to “in charge”?
