Potter’s House Children’s Church – Sunday School Recap

This week in Children’s Church, our lesson focused on “Jesus Teaches Us to Pray” from Matthew 6:9–13. Our memory verse was Luke 11:1: “Lord, teach us to pray.”

The children learned that prayer is simply talking with God and that they can pray anytime and anywhere. We discussed how Jesus’ disciples watched Him pray and asked Him to teach them how to pray. Jesus answered by giving them the Lord’s Prayer, which serves as a guide for how we should communicate with our Heavenly Father.

Together, we walked through the Lord’s Prayer and learned that:
• God is our loving Father.
• His name is holy and worthy of praise.
• We should seek His will and His kingdom.
• God faithfully provides for our daily needs.
• He forgives us and wants us to forgive others.
• He helps us make wise choices and protects us from evil.
• All power, glory, and honor belong to Him.

Our object lesson, “The Backpack of Worries,” reminded the children that we don’t have to carry our fears, worries, anger, or sin by ourselves. Just as we removed heavy books from the backpack, we learned that prayer allows us to give our burdens to Jesus because He cares for us.

During our review time, the children answered questions about prayer, shared things they were thankful for, and completed their “Teach Us to Pray” coloring activity while remembering that Jesus always hears their prayers.

We also made a five finger prayer to use as a template when praying!

Weekly Challenge: Pray every morning, before meals, and before bed, and share the Lord’s Prayer with someone at home.

We closed our lesson by thanking God for teaching us how to pray and asking Him to help us trust Him, obey Him, forgive others, and always remember that He hears every prayer.

Key Takeaway: Prayer is a special conversation with God, and Jesus gave us the perfect example of how to pray. No matter where we are or what we’re facing, we can always talk to our Heavenly Father, knowing that He listens with love.

May God continue to bless our children as they grow in faith and develop a daily habit of prayer! 🙏💙

🌟 Hey Parents & Children! 🌟
A friendly reminder from Potter's House Children's Ministry! 💙
This Sunday, don't forget to have your child bring their Children's Church offering.

Every gift, big or small, is an opportunity to worship God with a joyful heart and learn the importance of giving back to His Kingdom.

📖 "God loves a cheerful giver." — 2 Corinthians 9:7

We can't wait to worship, learn, grow, and have fun together in Children's Church!

Potter’s House Children’s Church – Sunday School Recap

Theme: The Lord Is My Shepherd
Scripture: Psalm 23

This Sunday, our children learned about Psalm 23 and how God is our Shepherd. Just as a shepherd lovingly cares for and protects his sheep, God watches over us, guides us, and provides everything we need.

We discussed:
• Who David says is the Shepherd: The Lord! (Psalm 23:1)
• What a shepherd does: A shepherd leads, protects, feeds, cares for, and keeps the sheep safe.
• What it means when God “leads me in paths of righteousness”: God helps us make good choices, obey His Word, and walk in the way that pleases Him.

Key Takeaway:
We can trust God to lead us every day. He loves us, takes care of us, and is always with us, no matter what we face.

Memory Verse:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” — Psalm 23:1

We encourage families to read Psalm 23 together this week and talk about ways God has been your Shepherd by providing, protecting, and guiding your family.

Thank you for joining us at Potter’s House Children’s Church! We look forward to seeing everyone next Sunday! 💙🙏
