One of the great concerns of the Apostle Paul was that teachers of untruth and false doctrines would enter the church and spread their pernicious lies, telling everyone it was “God’s honest to goodness truth.” In fact, it was, and still is, lies from the pit of hell. Yet, each year millions buy into what these charlatans are selling while leading them away from the true and living God. So, how can you tell the fake prophet from a true man of God and purveyor of God’s Word as found in Scripture? “When Satan tempts me to despair and tells me of the guilt within, upward I look and see Him there who made an end to all my sin.” Satan has only two strategies: 1) He tempts us to sin, and 2) He tempts us to despair over our sin. Both of these strategies take our eyes off Christ–our Atonement and Justification. In order to battle against the lies of Satan, we need to know how he tempts us to despair and what to do in response. This is why doctrine is vital to the Christian life. We must grow into a mature knowledge of doctrine to fight Satan’s lies because Satan twists doctrine to tempt us to despair. Scripture: Zechariah 3:1 Speaker: Wilson Van Hooser

Satan hates the work of God. If he can’t keep someone from becoming a Christian, he will do all he can to take away their joy of salvation. He stands as the False Accuser to condemn us before the throne of God. But Christ is the True Intercessor and Advocate who pleads our case. Christ violently and justly delivered the mortal wound to Satan’s head via the Cross. Because Christ has risen from the dead and ascended into Heaven as our High Priest, we have nothing to fear when Satan accuses us of our sin. Christ is our atonement and our justification forever!
