For the Bible to matter, you first have to understand its origin... and its benefits.
Let’s first start with its origin.
40 authors. 66 books. 3 continents. 3 languages.
Shepherds, kings, scholars, fishermen, prophets, a military general, a cupbearer, and priests all penned portions of Scripture.
They wrote from palaces and prisons, wildernesses and places of exile. They wrote history, law, poetry, prophecy, wisdom, and personal letters. They poured out anger, grief, joy, fear, hope, and love.
Different people. Different places. Different circumstances. Different purposes.
Yet one message.
Despite spanning thousands of years and countless experiences, the Bible carries an astounding internal consistency. It does not collapse under its own weight or fracture under scrutiny.
It tells one unified story.
From Genesis to Revelation, we see mankind repeatedly rebel against a holy God. God created a perfect world, but humanity continually rejected His way and chose to define truth for itself.
Yet God did something shocking.
He promised love for the undeserving. Grace for the guilty. Mercy for the rebellious.
Even in Genesis, immediately after Adam and Eve sinned, God revealed His plan of redemption. Throughout the Old Testament He repeated it, expanded it, and pointed toward it.
Then came Jesus.
Not as an accident. Not as a backup plan.
But exactly as promised. Over 300 prophecies fulfilled.
Through His sacrificial death and resurrection, the promises of old were fulfilled. And Revelation points us toward the final completion of His redemptive work.
And if that isn't enough...
Recently computer scientist Chris Harrison mapped every cross-reference he could find in Scripture: 63,779 connections stretching across the Bible in rainbow-like arcs, the color based on the distance between each reference.
Only now, with modern technology, can we visually see what prophets, writers, and people of faith knew long before us:
This is not random.
Yes these words were penned by men... but inspired, breathed, and brought to life by God alone Himself.
So when you open Scripture, you are pulling back the curtain and stepping into the heart of God: His purpose, His hope, His love for you, your family, and the world.
You could spend ten lifetimes reading books and never touch one carrying the weight, power, and truth found in just one of these pages.
He alone holds the words of eternal life and those words are found in the Bible.
