THE POWER OF THE GREEN SCAPULAR

A young woman once called to give thanks for her husband’s conversion. He had been an atheist, yet out of nowhere he began wanting to become Catholic and prepare for baptism.

What makes the story so striking is that, without telling him, she had placed a blessed Green Scapular under his mattress and prayed for him every day.

When she finally asked what changed, he simply said, “It was like a bolt of lightning.”

The Green Scapular is a simple Marian sacramental often used when praying for someone’s conversion or healing. It does not even have to be worn. It can be placed in a room, a home, or among someone’s belongings while you quietly pray for them.

The prayer is very simple: “Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.”

Our Lady gave the Green Scapular through Sister Justine Bisqueyburu in 19th-century France. It is not as well known as the Brown Scapular, but it has been connected with many powerful stories of conversion.
