Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Hartford, CT, bid a fond farewell to Sr. Margarita Castaneda, CND, on May 31st. During the Spanish Mass, she renewed her religious vows in Spanish, marking 66 years as a Sister. Because May 31 is the Feast of the Visitation, Sr. Margarita chose to celebrate this special milestone with the parish community.

For seven years, Sr. Margarita served the parish as a volunteer and Director of Religious Education, sharing her faith, dedication, and love with parishioners of all ages.

Sr. Margarita recently relocated to Villa Maria Convent in Bronx, NY. Our Lady of Sorrows is grateful for her years of devoted service and wishes her many blessings in this new chapter of her ministry.

Viewing, funeral, burial, and a luncheon at Mill Plain Diner will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at St. Matthew Church in Norwalk, CT.
