The Fairfield Police Department congratulates Detective Beth Leetch on her retirement today and thanks her for nearly 28 years of dedicated service to the Town of Fairfield.
Detective Leetch was hired in 1998 and began her career on patrol, later serving as a DARE officer and School Resource Officer. In 2009, she was promoted to the Detective Bureau, where she spent 16 years assigned to the Special Victims Unit. During that time, she specialized in investigations involving crimes against children, domestic violence, s*xual assault, child abuse, and child po*******hy cases.
Throughout her career, Detective Leetch served on the Hostage Negotiation Team, Crisis Intervention Team, Peer Support Team, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. She also taught at police academies and provided in service training on child abuse investigations, s*xual assault, domestic minor s*x trafficking, and police su***de awareness.
In addition to her investigative work, Detective Leetch was deeply committed to fitness, training, and recruitment. She became Cooper Fitness certified in 2001 and participated in 25 years of police fitness testing, prequalifying new recruits for the academy and serving on recruit interview panels.
Detective Leetch was also a strong advocate for women and children. She hosted women’s self-defense classes, delivered countless community presentations on internet and personal safety, and worked tirelessly to empower victims through education and support.
Detective Leetch leaves behind a lasting legacy of advocacy, professionalism, and service. We thank her for her dedication to the Fairfield Police Department and the community she served, and we wish her a happy and healthy retirement.
