On May 20th, our St. Francis of Assisi CCW hosted their Annual Luncheon inviting the St. Alphonsus CCW members from Crossville. The day started appropriately with Mass concelebrated by Father David Mary Engo, FFM and Father Michael Woods. As guest speaker at the luncheon, Father David Mary’s talk came down to one beautiful, message: Mary loves us with a mother’s heart, and as Queen of Heaven she never stops drawing us closer to her Son.

BISHOP BECKMAN'S ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THIS WEEKEND'S MASSES:⁣

Regarding Inclement Weather and Mass Attendance - As inclement weather affects parts of our region, Bishop offers the following pastoral guidance regarding our obligation to attend Sunday Mass and our shared responsibility to safeguard human life.⁣

The Church teaches that no one should place themselves or others at undue risk in order to attend Mass. Personal safety is a moral responsibility, and prudence must guide your decision. I strongly urge the faithful of the Diocese of Knoxville to comply with guidance from local municipal authorities and the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) regarding travel advisories and road conditions.⁣

Those who are unable to attend Mass due to inclement weather are encouraged to sanctify the Lord’s Day in other appropriate ways: by prayer at home, either individually or as a family, reading Sacred Scripture, or making a spiritual communion.⁣

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~⁣
NOTE: The 10:00 Mass this Sunday, February 1st, will be livestreamed as usual.
Dear Parish Family,⁣
What an extraordinary morning this has been. As our community faced a truly historic storm, your faithfulness shone through in a remarkable way. Although many of us could not gather safely in person, the turnout for our livestreamed Mass (270 households) was truly uplifting. Seeing so many of you praying together from your homes—was a powerful reminder that the Church is never confined to a building.⁣
Thank you for choosing connection over isolation, prayer over worry, and community over distance. Your presence, even through a screen, strengthened our parish family today.⁣
Please continue to stay safe, check on your neighbors, and reach out if you or someone you know needs assistance. We look forward to being together again in person soon, but until then, know that you remain held in prayer and united in spirit.⁣
With gratitude and blessings...⁣
Due to the anticipated weather conditions this weekend, Father Michael has removed the obligation to attend Mass. There will not be a 5:00 pm Saturday Mass; nor will there be an 8:00 am Sunday Mass. However, Father Michael and Deacon Dan will celebrate Mass at 10:00 am on Sunday which will be livestreamed. We encourage everyone to stay off the roads and be safe.⁣
If you are interested in signing up for The Second Greatest Story Ever Told retreat which starts on February 5th, please call Jim Bronson at (847) 207-6355. Advance registration is important so an adequate number of books can be ordered.⁣
St. Frances Xavier Cabrini was the first American citizen to be canonized, after she came to the U.S. to serve immigrant communities around the turn of the 20th century. But believe it or not, she almost never came to America at all.⁣
In fact, the Italian religious sister had initially wanted to serve as a missionary to Asia--just like her namesake, St. Francis Xavier. But Pope Leo XIII told her, "Not to the East, but to the West," and urged her to serve the poor masses of migrants that were arriving on America's shores. She agreed and came to the U.S. in 1889.⁣
Mother Cabrini's impact in America is a powerful testament to the virtues of obedience and trust in providence--and we ask her to pray for all of us here at Saint Francis of Assisi
