The following statements are a summary of the truths commonly believed and taught in the Church of God. What we believe:
GOD
God the Father is one person, a literal being, almighty, eternal, immortal, and creator of all things. --Deuteronomy 6:4, 1 Timothy 2:5; Isaiah 45:18. JESUS CHRIST
Jesus Christ is born of the virgin Mary, sinless and the only-begotten Son of God. He did not personally pre-ex
ist. --Luke 1:32-35; John 20:31; Galatians 4:4. THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is not a person, but is God's divine power and influence manifest in God's mighty works and in the lives of his people. --Genesis 1:2; Job 26:13; Romans 8:11; Ephesians 1:19, 20. THE BIBLE
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and the only authoritative source of doctrine and practice. --2 Timothy 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1 20, 21. MAN
Man was created innocent but, through disobedience to God, fell under condemnation of death which is the cessation of all life and consciousness. --1 Kings 8:46; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:9-23; 1 John 1:8. BAPTISM
Man, the soul, is mortal. (Genesis 2:7; Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10) Man can only receive immortality through conversion to Jesus Christ, by faith, repentance and baptism by immersion. --John 14:6; Acts 2:38; 4:12; 8:12; Romans 6:1-6. ISRAEL
Israel is the name of the literal descendants of Abraham through Jacob, God's chosen nation, in accordance with God's promises. --Ezekiel 36:21-32. THE RETURN OF CHRIST AND THE KINGDOM OF GOD
The Kingdom of God will be established over the entire earth. (Daniel 2:44; 2 Peter 1:11) When Jesus Christ returns he will visibly reign as King in Jerusalem, with the church as joint-heris with him. --Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17; Revelation 5:9, 10. After Jesus reigns on the earth for 1,000 years, there will come the final judgment and destruction of the wicked, the restitution of all things, no more death or sorrow, and God will be all in all. --Acts 3:21; 1 Corinthians 15:23-26; 2 Peter 3:10-13; Revelation 20:6 - 21:4. CHRISTIAN LIFE
The Christian life is a life of consecrated discipleship to Jesus Christ as Lord, Saviour, and Teacher. It is characterized with moral living and faithful stewardship. --Romans 12:1, 2; 1 Timothy 4:11-16; Titus 2:11-14; Malachi 3:10. The Christian hope is to receive immortality in the first resurrection when all believers rise to meet Christ at his return. --Daniel 12:2; John 11:23-26; 2 Timothy 4:8; Titus 2:13. The Table of the Lord is a place of self discipline and communion between the participant and his Lord. Each professed Christian may exercise his privilege to partake or not partake of the supper. --1 Cor. 11:28, 29.
