“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19–20)

As followers of Christ, we are called to make disciples. Disciple-making is the lifelong process of helping people know, love, and obey Jesus. It includes proclaiming the gospel to those who do not yet know Christ, establishing new believers in the faith, and equipping growing Christians to do the work of the ministry by making disciples who make disciples. That’s why we’re excited to begin Ministry Hour—an opportunity for our church to be Equipped for Life & Ministry. Each Sunday from 9:00-10:00 a.m., we’ll offer classes designed to deepen our understanding of God’s Word, strengthen our faith, and equip us with biblical knowledge and practical skills to faithfully follow Christ and help others do the same. We’d like to offer classes along three tracks (Core, Bible/Theology, and Practical). Core classes will include Membership Explored and other foundational topics we’d like to regularly offer. Bible/Theology will include classes on Bible books and theological topics. Lastly, the Practical track will offer classes that will equip the Christian on a variety of practical topics, such as the spiritual disciplines, how to study the Bible, and how to battle anxiety. We plan to offer classes across four sessions:

Fall: September-December
Winter: January-March
Spring: April-June
Summer: July-August

During each session, we will offer at least one class in each track. This fall, we’ll offer the following classes:

Core Track: Membership Explored (September 13 – October 4)

Bible/Theology Track: Knowing God (September 13 – November 8)

Practical Track: Evangelism (September 13 – November 8), followed by Discipling (November 15-December 13)

On Sunday, July 26, we start our new sermon series in the book of Psalms! Godwin will preach a sermon titled “The Ideal Man” from Psalm 1:1-6. We have resources related to the series available in the bookstore at discounted prices.

•DayBreak Ministries Back-to-School Campaign: Help collect school supplies for students in the Lincoln Heights community with our partners, DayBreak! You can drop off any of the items they need at the lobby table, or church office during the week, until Sunday, August 2.

•Member Meeting: Members are invited to join us from 5:00-6:00 p.m. to pray together, hear updates, and participate in the life and direction of our church! A livestream will be available except for the membership portion.

On Sunday, July 5, Seita and Emma Sakaguchi, our missionaries who planted Toyosu Community Church in Tokyo, Japan are visiting! Seita will preach a stand-alone sermon, “A Kingdom That Grows,” from Mark 4:26-34.
