The Saint Mark Coptic Orthodox Church of Washington DC (SMCOC) was originally established in 1976. We started with a very small congregation who were dedicated to the idea of bringing the rich Coptic Orthodox faith to the area in and around our nation’s capitol while establishing dedicated facilities for them to practice their faith and instill these values in their children. SMCOC aims to maintai

n the spirit and tradition of 2000 years ago founded by Saint Mark the Evangelist. In all, its services and activities, the Church provides a warm environment for all members while maintaining the traditional customs and rites of the Coptic Church. The mission of Saint Mark Coptic Orthodox Church is to help everyone grow in fervent love of Jesus Christ. We are a local church with a global impact. We hold fast to the Orthodox traditions, but incorporate a modern and progressive approach to the richness of the Faith. Our church focuses on being diverse both in membership and service. Everyone is welcome to join us in worship, weekly Bible Study, and Sunday School. We offer dozens of various outreach programs throughout the greater DC area, around our country, and the world.

Every person has been given a gift by God, and the beauty of the Body of Christ is that no two gifts look the same.

The danger is not that we lack gifts. The danger is spending so much time wishing we had someone else’s that we never develop our own.

You were not created to be a copy. You were created to become the fullest version of who God made you to be. As Scripture says, “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Ephesians 2:10).

Stop comparing. Start becoming.

O Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the name of salvation, who according to the multitude of His mercy, descended into Hades and destroyed the power of death.

You are the King of the ages, the Immortal, the Everlasting, the Logos of God who is above all, the Shepherd of the rational sheep, the High Priest of the good things to come, who ascended into the heavens and has become higher than the heavens.

We don’t fall into sin overnight.
We rename it.
We justify it.
We make it reasonable.

“Just this once.”
“It’s not that serious.”
“God understands.”

And slowly… we start calling darkness light.

Judas didn’t betray Christ in a moment.
He lived in small compromises until betrayal felt normal.

Be careful what you’re excusing.
Because what you tolerate… you eventually become.

We’re not destroyed by sin first…
we’re destroyed by delay.

The foolish virgins didn’t say “no” to God
they just said “not today.”

“Tomorrow I’ll repent.”
“Tomorrow I’ll change.”
“Tomorrow I’ll take it seriously.”

And tomorrow… keeps moving.

That’s the deception.
Not rebellion… delay.

You don’t need more time.
You need a decision.

Today matters. Right now matters.
Because the biggest lie the enemy tells is:
👉 “You still have time.”

Are you lacking anything?

Don’t rush to fill it.
Don’t distract yourself from it.
Bring it before the Holy Spirit.

This Holy Week, He will show you exactly what Christ wants to teach you.
Not generally. Personally.

So slow down.
Listen closely.
Every prophecy. Every psalm. Every Gospel.

As the deacons read… heaven is speaking.
The question is: are you listening?
