Mennonite Action is encouraging groups to take action during Holy Week to call for a ceasefire in Gaza using the theme “Send Aid, Not Bombs”. Our congregation is planning a conference call with Congressman Gerry Connolly's office at 4:00 pm on March 28 to thank him for his commitment to peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and encourage him to continue working for peace in that region and around the world.
Then, from 4:45-5:30 pm, we will hold signs along Blenheim Blvd. (in front of our church building), calling for peace and humanitarian aid in Gaza instead of violence and military aid.
At 6:00 pm, we will hold a Holy Thursday meal and service in the fellowship hall. The meal will begin at 6:00 pm and consist of soup and bread. The service will begin at approx. 6:30 pm and will include footwashing (or handwashing, if you prefer), communion, scripture readings and songs as we reflect on Jesus' last Supper with his disciples and his call to love and serve one another.
Please consider joining us on March 28 for one or all of these activities on Holy Thursday: the call with Congressman Connolly's office, the witness for peace, the meal, and the service.
