Harvest Church Family,
These last few days have been spent reading, watching, and listening to all that’s going on concerning the COVID-19 crisis we are now facing. On the ride home yesterday I made a phone call to the Kentucky Health Department to get a personal understanding of the situation and some basic knowledge as to how we as a church can help in the prevention/spread of this virus.
This decision is a hard one for me as a pastor because I know I will not make everyone happy. I am not one to jump on the “bandwagon” of the end of the world type stuff but at the same time I cannot be blasé or apathetic to what the President is calling a national emergency, nor do I want to look irresponsible to the world we are trying to reach. I know there are those in our circles quoting 2 Tim. 1:7-“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” We like to focus on God not giving us the spirit of fear as we plow headlong regardless of the outcome believing God will protect us. To those same folks I ask, “Do you wear a seatbelt?”, “wear a helmet?”, “have health insurance?” The answer would be yes! Why? Because the end of that same verse states that God has given us a sound mind. This means that God has given us common sense or good judgement when it comes to making hard decisions.
So, after prayerful consideration based on what the president's most recent recommendation is regarding COVID-19, we have decided to worship together online only starting tomorrow, March 15 through March 22. This gives a 2 week window that is being utilized by our officials as a means to further prevent the spread of this virus.
Our service times will be 10:00 online live service on Sunday, March 15 and March 22. There will be no Vision Groups or Wednesday services during this time. All other church meetings will be postponed as well.
We will be consistently monitoring this throughout the week, and updating you in the event of any changes.
This is an overwhelming and scary time for so many people in our communities, and as we all try to process the current events happening in our country and across the world, we know 2 things: there is much work to be done, and many people who the need the good news.
Please join us LIVE online at our new 10:00 AM worship time this weekend via Facebook and share the message with your friends and family.
If you would like to give your tithe, you can do so via our website, mail it in, or you can drop it off at the church to myself or Bro Mark.
Myself and Bro Mark, along with our deacons, are still available! If you have an emergency or need to reach someone at the church, please feel free to contact us through phone, text, email or Facebook.
We will update as more information becomes available.
We love you, and are praying with and for you!
- Bro Jason
