Children's Day has its roots in 1857 when Reverend Dr. Charles Leonard held a special service dedicated to children on the second Sunday in June in Chelsea, Massachusetts. This day was initially called Rose Day, later becoming Flower Sunday, and eventually Children's Day. Different countries celebrate this special day on various days. In Illinois, this day is celebrated on the second Sunday in June.
