On this Memorial Day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. As we gather with family and community, let us also lift up in prayer all who have served and continue to serve. May God bless the souls of the fallen, comfort their families and grant peace to our nation and the world.

ARMENIAN KHATCHKARS: SACRED SYMBOLS OF FAITH, HERITAGE & SACRIFICE ✝️ Have you ever wondered about the meaning behind the sacred carvings known as Khatchkars (ΥΥ‘ΥΉΦ„Υ‘Φ€), meaning β€œcross-stones” in Armenian? More than just works of art, khatchkars are symbols of faith, sacrifice, hope, eternal life and the enduring spirit and faith of the Armenian people. Each khatchkar is uniquely hand-carved with intricate patterns, vines, rosettes and a central cross representing Christ’s victory over death. For centuries, Armenians have created khatchkars to commemorate loved ones, celebrate blessings, mark historic moments and express devotion to God. Khatchkars remind us that faith can be both deeply spiritual and beautifully visible.

The next time you visit St. Leon's, take a moment to pause beside the khatchkar (first photo) that was imported from Armenia and stands in the plaza outside of the Youth Center. Reflect on the sacrifice and generations of faith, resilience and artistry it represents. ❀️ πŸ™

Don’t forget to like and share this post with others to celebrate the symbolism of khatchkars in our Armenian Christian faith and heritage. πŸ‡¦πŸ‡² Do you have a photo of you standing next to a khatchkar somewhere in the world? Add it to our comments below for others to see!
