Congregation Darchei Noam is a vibrant and dynamic synagogue located in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, led by our rabbi and rebbitzen, Rabbi Jeremy and Shira Donath. It was founded by men and women seeking to replicate the spiritually uplifting and serious davening style of many minyanim found in Israel. Darchei Noam seeks to fulfill the needs of its members and friends and reaches out to everyone in the Jewish community looking for a warm davening in a modern Orthodox setting.

The Notenet Girls Chesed Program wrapped up their season with a trip to Yad Leah: Clothing Israel's Needy where we were able to sort and pack clothing to send to people in Israel. What an incredible organization to volunteer for! They are always looking for people to volunteer so definitely go!

We also got to recognize our 8th grader, Orit whom this program was established for over 5 years ago by her mom Aliza Riemer Strassman! Thank you both for realizing there was a need for more chessed that our girls could participate in!

Notenet had a special opportunity this morning to take part it in the Mantzichim project (https://mantzichim.co.il/en/etz-chaim/)! Rabbi Donath spoke to the girls about a Torah in our shul that could no longer be used. Through Mantzichim, this Torah is being fixed by a sofer and will be donated to a community in Israel in memory of a fallen chayal. As part of this project, each Torah receives a special cover that includes patches embroidered by women all over the world. The Notenet girls learned the basics of embroidery in order to have a part in the renewal and dedication of a very special Sefer Torah! Special thanks to Mel Balkin for helping to teach today's skill!

Several patches still need to be finished- if any women in the community would like to embroider a patch, please contact Aliza Strassman.

These are just a snap shot of the amazing Shabbaton we had for our Middle and High Schoolers this past Shabbat led by the one and only Adam Pasternak!

On Friday night, they participated in pre Shabbat ruach, Kabbalat Shabbat, enjoyed a delicious dinner and then had an oneg with chill time and organized games.

Shabbat day involved davening with many of our participants leading davening as well as receiving aliyot. Then they had a pre-kiddush kiddush, afternoon hangout and activities, mincha with more participants giving dvrei Torah and then Shalshudos and maariv.

After Shabbat, they came back to shul for some Twist’d trivia, pizza and build our new shul out of edible materials (pictured above!)

Thank you to everyone who participated and again a huge shout out to Adam for running an amazing weekend!!

This morning we learned a fun new skill at Notenet- balloon twisting! Thank you to Naaleh senior Michal Benovitz for teaching the girls how to make wands, swords, dogs, hats, and flowers 🎈🎈🎈🎈
The girls can’t wait to use their new skill at upcoming shul events, and every opportunity they have!
