Howard and Joshua Herman Educational Center
Our school’s curriculum aims to promote an appreciation and understanding of our Jewish cultural and religious heritage through instruction in Jewish liturgy and prayer, Hebrew reading and writing, Torah studies, the Jewish life cycle, the geography of Israel and Jewish history and traditions. Our program supports students’ needs to take part in synagog
ue services, rituals, and celebration of the Jewish holidays throughout the year. We strongly encourage regular family attendance at Shabbat services and welcome our students’ active participation in all aspects of davening and Torah reading. Our students’ understanding and appreciation of Judaism is enriched by visiting our Judaic library, infusing Jewish music into the curricula, and by providing interactive learning experiences throughout the year. Exciting annual activities such as our Model Seder, our Rosh Hashanah Shofar Factory Event, and the personalized Sidur Dedication Celebration make learning memorable and fun. Accordingly, our curriculum highlights:
Instilling a sense of pride in our Jewish community, our heritage, and in being Jewish. Developing skills to actively participate in services and rituals at home and in the synagogue. Integrating Jewish values and traditions into everyday life, so students will act morally and ethically as Conservative Jews. Fostering a strong foundation that emotionally bonds our students to Israel. Building a deep sense of spirituality, as well as a sincere desire for lifelong Jewish learning.
