Dr. Holly Wherry Obituary
Deeply loved daughter, sister, friend, and physician, Dr. Holly Lynn Wherry passed away on August 27, 2026, surrounded by family and friends at her home in Branson, Missouri, at the age of 48, having faced ovarian cancer with the same strength and steadiness that defined her life. She was born on October 14, 1977, in Springfield, Missouri, to Bill and Carol Wherry and lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and steadfast devotion to the people she loved and served.
Holly graduated from high school in Fair Grove, Missouri, and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. She later received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia. Following medical school, she completed her residency at Cox Medical Centers in Springfield, where she began building the career that would define much of her life’s work.
Her first position after residency was with Skaggs Medical Center in Branson, which later became part of CoxHealth. It was there that she would remain for nearly 20 years, dedicating herself to caring for her patients and serving her community with skill, compassion, and unwavering commitment.
Throughout her career, Holly was deeply respected by her colleagues and cherished by her patients. She served on the Cox Board of Directors for 13 years, remained devoted to her patients and co-workers to the very end, and found great joy in working alongside some of her closest friends.
Holly was fiercely loyal to the people she loved. She is survived by her parents, Bill and Carol Wherry, and her sister, Amanda Wherry. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Walter and Betty Trauth; her paternal grandparents, Paul and Pauline Wherry; her uncle and aunt, Don and Deanna Wherry; and her aunts, Cindy Trauth and Betty Wherry.
Outside of medicine, Holly found happiness in beautiful and meaningful things. She loved her cats, Bhreac and Graeme, who will surely miss her presence, as well as her incredible grace and patience with their eccentricities. She enjoyed knitting and took great pleasure in making hats, shawls, and scarves for those she loved. She also loved orchids and, more often than not, could get these delicate flowers to bloom. Her medical office held more than 20 pots, often bursting with color. Her office also held the community candy bowl, which she kept constantly well supplied. Holly wanted those around her taken care of, whether through M&Ms or otherwise.
Holly will be remembered for her generosity, her devotion to her profession, her fierce loyalty to family and friends, and the steadiness she brought to those around her. Her life touched countless people.

The family will celebrate her life with private services. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory in Branson.
