Who are Little Company of Mary Associates and Affiliates?
We are lay men and women called to daily pray for the dying as this was the passion of the Founder of the Professed religious community of women known as the Little Company of Mary.
The Greater Company of Mary is defined as that vast number of persons who are in any way involved in the ministry and life of the Little Company of Mary, thus co-workers, colleagues, volunteers, families of sisters, friends of any religious affiliation or denomination. Within this broad term belong the Affiliates and Associates, who are more closely linked with the Little Company of Mary.
Associates are people of all ages who desire to deepen their baptismal consecration and are drawn to the vision of Mary Potter and called to share in the Charism, Spirituality and Mission of the Little Company of Mary. They complete a formation process developed to share the life of Venerable Mary Potter and heritage of the Little Company of Mary. Daily praying for the dying is a commitment LCM Associates make at a formal commitment ceremony and re-commitment is on an ongoing basis, usually annually or bi-annually. Associate groups meet regularly-often monthly but individual groups decide the frequency of gatherings and other activities.
Affiliates are people of all ages who also desire to deepen their baptismal consecration and are drawn to the vision of Mary Potter and called to share in the Charism, Spirituality and Mission of the Little Company of Mary. Affiliates are not required to attend regular gatherings if they feel transportation is an issue or their health or other family circumstances limits their availability. Their continued commitment to daily pray for the dying is all that is asked. They may join the regularly scheduled meetings at anytime.
