Why don't we proclaim the kingdom of God?

More than 20 years ago, I was seriously worried about evangelism. Not only was I unable to preach as I had done before, but almost all Christians seemed to have given up on evangelism. When I was about 17 years old, I devoted myself to serving the Lord, but even in my late 30s and 40s in America, I could not share the gospel with other people. In fact, most of the ministers seemed to be preaching and teaching only within the church, and it seemed to me that nobody was preaching the gospel to unbelievers. Maybe I might be wrong, but I felt deeply worried, even to great fear. The people on the ship could drown while Jonah was sleeping on the ship. But the church has been shrinking and shrinking, while the whole society has been sinking into a deep ungodly water. But I did not try to research and invent a better way of evangelism. My instinct told me it was not a problem with the methods. I felt we do not know what the gospel and its power are, and their sharing.
Until 1990, when I was working with Campus Crusade in Korea, the Korean church devoted all its full efforts to evangelism in every possible way. It was a time of amazing growth in which the church grew explosively, and many missionaries were sent to the whole world. The message of evangelism at that time, whether it was a church evangelism revival meeting, a large-scale gathering of hundreds of thousands, such as a Billy Graham Crusade, a small group evangelism, or an individual evangelism, was to present the atonement of Jesus' death on the cross and to receive Jesus as the personal Savior. After that, I moved to Canada and later to the United States, where sharing the gospel was no longer welcomed by people, but rather considered a nuisance. I seemed to even the church agreed that the era of evangelism was over. It seemed everybody knew the gospel. They knew Jesus died on the cross for the payment of sins and resurrection, eternal life, salvation, and the grace of God. Quite rarely do I see very bold evangelism with picket speakers, writing on the car or truck, or even placards flying in the sky of a stadium.
We don't know if such evangelism will bring people closer to Jesus or push them further away from the Lord. But what is clear is that Christianity continues to decline. Moreover, the church in this era used the advantages of the peak of civilizations, such as architecture, transportation, publication and communication, the Internet, electronics, and culture, but the results were going the other way around.
If our message to the world is flawless, there can be no hope in the world. Because the church has already done all we could do. But I have felt we missed something great from the message of Jesus from the beginning. Which can be the very cause of the confusion we have experienced. I did not have the whole picture of what the message meant. I just try to read the Bible with child-converted eye. And it was so easy to find what the difference was between Jesus’ message and our message. Quite naturally, a strong question appeared: “Why don’t we speak to the world that the Kingdom is at hand?" No! I do not understand and do not have the whole picture. But still, I thought I could do what Jesus’ disciples who were no better than me, sorry to them, obeyed and did.

The reality of Kingdom of God on earth.
I. The Kingdom of God as Mankind Has Never Experienced

God's creation of man are recorded briefly in Genesis 1:26-28. It is impossible know what the human society was like before the fall because we do not have records. The time before Adam and Eve's disobedience was short, and since there were no other human beings at that time, we have no real understanding of what human society without sin was like initially. Additionally, it is nearly impossible to envision an uncorrupted human society that never existed. We only have a clue in the written intentions of God when He created man.
Let’s take a closer look at verses 27 and 28 from our text:
**Genesis 1:27**
“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.”
**Genesis 1:28**
“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, ‘Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.’”

The key points from these verses are:
1. God created man in His image, reflecting His character rather than appearance; man's nature resembles God's in essence.
2. God blessed humanity with the mandate to be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. This instruction has been realized throughout human history.
3. God granted man dominion over all living creatures in nature except over human beings.

The trouble begins with the first point. The blessing of being fruitful, multiplying, filling the earth, and subduing it turned into a curse after humanity chose to sin and lost the image of God. Man's struggle to dominate one another has led to a world filled with sin, violence, hatred, murder, war. That is the whole history of all the human kind.

If the world were inhabited by people who love, protect, and embodied the character of God, rather than exerting power over one another, it would look drastically different from the history we have witnessed. In a society of loving people without sin, there would be no crime, no war, no suffering, no sickness, no disease, and ultimately, no death. Consequently, there would be no need for police, armies, tax collectors, governments, or kings. We cannot imagine such a society even such a kingdom. It would be much harder to think the Kingdom of Heaven could exist in this world with the beauty and glory of heaven.

In the kingdom of God, while there would be no rulers, all people, created in God's image, would collectively represent God’s kingdom. Every individual would be a child of God and a king—not rulers in the traditional sense, but kings who serve and give even his life. This vision of the Kingdom of God is one that has never been experienced by mankind and cannot be fully imagined due to the fall of the first man.

CHURCH EXISTS FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD, NOT THE KINGDOM OF GOD EXISTS FOR THE CHURCH. (This is the message to the leaders at the training on Aug. 26 in Nepal.)

Pastor Amos and you leaders have been planting 10 churches this year, so total of 28 churches has been born through Kingdom Proclamation evangelism. This wonderful expansion of the Kingdom of God ministry started 4 years ago from one church. Isn’t it Amazing that 4000 yearlong Hindu country, furthermore this incredible church multiplication started with a 2-year pandemic lockdown.
However, this is a time when we need to be very careful not to reverse our priorities.
Jesus didn't plant any churches during his three years of earthly ministry. Even when he sent his disciples out into the world, he didn't tell them to start churches. Everywhere the disciples went, they were healing the sick and casting out demons, drawing crowds with their miracles, which was a great opportunity to start a church, but they didn't.
Jesus' job was to proclaim the kingdom of God in every neighborhood, and his reason for sending the disciples was also to proclaim the kingdom of God.

Kingdom of God is the first thing to seek for. The Gospels record only two references to Jesus' teaching on church, but over 100 references to the kingdom of God.

We need to recognize the priorities here. It's not that the kingdom of God exists for the sake of the church, but that the church exists for the sake of the kingdom of God.

If you look at the hierarchy in 1 Corinthians 11, the head of the woman is the man, the head of the man is Christ, and the head of Christ is God.

The church is the body of Christ, the bride, the support staff for the work of Christ, the head and husband. In other words, the church does not exist or work for itself, but labors so that the kingdom of God can come according to Jesus' purpose and be presented to God at the end of time.

The Lord's Prayer makes no mention of the church but refers to the kingdom of God at the beginning and end of the prayer.

The church has not realized this for 2000 years and has made many mistakes. The church itself is the most precious substitute for Christ in the world, and so much energy has been devoted to the building, the work, and the church itself that the kingdom of God has been forgotten or relegated to something far away in heaven or after death.

Church buildings are necessary for the congregation to gather, but God is pleased to see His kingdom manifested on earth, not the buildings.

What is happening to the magnificent church architecture of the two thousand years of Christianity in Europe today?

The church is not responsible for its birth or growth. Even Jesus himself did nothing to build the church.
It came into being because Jesus died.
Adam did nothing to create Eve. God did it when he fell into a deep sleep.

If the church does not proclaim the kingdom of God according to the will of the bridegroom, Christ, but the church works for its own growth, the church is bound to become seriously ill and decline, and the church cannot blame God for its declining and disappearing.

The kingdom of God or the kingdom of heaven is a kingdom that comes down from above, not a kingdom that is made on earth and built up toward heaven and exalted.

It is a kingdom of the most holy and glorious, not something that cannot be exchanged or mixed with anything else of value on earth.

Matthew 9:16 No one puts a new piece of cloth on an old garment. If you do, the new piece of cloth will pull at it and tear it worse.

Deuteronomy 22:11 Do not wear a garment woven from a mixture of wool and cheesecloth.

The world is full of advances in science and culture that combine different things to create better things. There are hybrid cars that use electricity and gasoline fuel, new flavors of music by mixing classical, modern, and native music from different countries, and there are many creative products by mixing and fusing all kinds of technology. products, food, art, and other fields.
But all the material combinations in the world are in God's creation, so they can be better and nothing wrong with it. but the kingdom of God that Jesus brought should not be mixed with anything in the world.

As I've been reading Colossians lately, I've been thinking about Pastor Amos and you churched in Nepal. Paul has been preaching the kingdom of God daily in Ephesus, and many churches have been established in Asia, there is no record of him ever visiting them. While he rejoices in the news from the Colossian church, whom he had never seen face-to-face because he was imprisoned in Rome, he gives them an important warning.

He warns them of the dangers of something to be mixed with gospel in the church.
Legalism and mysticism and a philosophy that departs from the gospel and is based on the human wisdom.

While we are very excited and thankful for the progress of the gospel AND MANY NEW CHURCHES PLANTED in Nepal, we also need to heed the warnings and clear instructions about the errors and failures that have already been experienced by the Church OF THE WORLD for 2000 years. That KEY WORD OF THE teaching can be summarized WITH one word: “in”. If we have received the kingdom of God, we must be in it. ABIDE IN

WALK IN

REMAIN IN

CONTINUE IN

Paul writes in several places about how we are to abide in it. Count how many times the word “in” appears in Colossians 1 and 2 alone. If you collect the items, organize them, print them out, and keep AND APPLY them TO your life, you and the church will indeed grow as to the beloved bride of Christ.

Here are a few that come to MY mind

In Christ,

In the Word,

in the knowledge,

in grace,

in the Holy Spirit,

in love,

in faith,

in the gospel,

in the light,

in God,

All the Scriptures tell us how great it is to abide in it. On the other hand, when you leave it, no matter how close you are to it, you see all the works of Satan's hell.

There is also a defensive reason to remain in it, given the destructive practices that are tolerated and even advocated in Christendom in the name of Christianity, such as legalism, which looks very pious but is devoid of life and power; humanism, which is very touching; socialism, communism, and materialism, which seems to be promising justice and happiness; mysticism, which has gone beyond the bounds of humanity; abortion, which has gone beyond the bounds of humanity; open sexuality; high divorce rates; homosexuality; and transgenderism. God's purpose is for the fullness of the divine nature to fill His body, the church, and through the church to fill the whole world. For this to happen, WE must abide in it and not be mixed with anything else.

We believe that there is a special providence of God for the Church in Nepal to be filled with Christ to fulfill the mission of the bride of Christ to show the kingdom of God to the world and to save the world.

Thank you for your listening, your love for God, your passion for the cause of the Kingdom of God on earth, and devotion for the ministry. God bless you and your family.

GOD BLESS NEPAL!

Thinking of the Lord of Calvary.

The cross that fell from the shoulders of the exhausted King,
contains the sins of mankind the whole world can't bear.

With every staggering step upward the hill, you substituted the march of horseshoe, chariots, cannons, and air fighters.

Merciless hammers and nails on hands and feet, screams and groans were to substitute for the eardrum-rending explosions and cries of a hail of bullet and shells.

The sweat and blood that streaked down until death, were to cleanse the flood and the sea of the sins wherein mankind has struggled and died.

That desperate cry “Why have you forsaken me?” was a substitute for the final judgment of the rebellion of me and all mankind, who were to be thrown into the abyss.

Mission Report from Nepal (January to February)

January and February 2024 marked the peak of Pastor Amosh's ministry in Nepal.
Pastor Amos traveled to mountainous villages, preached the gospel of the kingdom of heaven to 476 people, and gained 18 converts. He baptized 12 people and started new churches in two villages. In the midst of the ongoing evangelism, there are people who are healed by the Lord and come to faith.
A woman named Tam Kumari was in the business of divining fortunes by reading the palms of people's hands, and she knew that she couldn't know her fortune even if she wanted to.

One day, while looking at someone else's hand, she suddenly became weak and fell down, and she fell ill, and no matter what she did, she couldn't get better, was hospitalized.

At that time, a Christian came and prayed, and God healed her. Not only was she healed, but she also experienced peace that she had never experienced before, and now she preaches the gospel to my neighbors.

In the last week of February, 35 pastors and leaders from 22 churches received training. Some of them came across from Northern India.

Financial Reporting:

The spread of the gospel continues steadily in Hindu regions such as Nepal and India, even among the persecution. Christianity is growing remarkably, especially in Nepal, where the population is relatively small and the central control is loose due to its mountainous region.

Pastor Amosh accepted, trained, and implemented evangelism based on biblical principles that testify to Jesus Christ by proclaiming the Kingdom of God, unlike the traditional evangelism. As a result, we can see the fruits of the establishment of the 22 churches in a short period of time around pandemic.

This ministry will cover the western half of Nepal, and it will have a breakthrough impact on Hindu Muslim countries such as India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

Pastor Amos was almost the only one who actively understood, accepted the Kingdom evangelism I shared with him, and he put into practice it straight away.

However, as his ministry reach wider, there was a great need for finance. I began to send some help, but as it grew to a scale that I could not afford, I raised money on social media to friends or people I had never seen before. I could send $12,000 last year to complete the new building for worship and training and $1,800 until February this year.

I encouraged pastor Amosh to make a five-year plan to announce the need to the churches in other countries.

I have a great confidence that this ministry will not only grow bigger in the near future but also have to spread to entire world because it does as Jesus did and commanded.

It cannot be a business for a private man like me to support for the evangelization of a nation which has great potential to impact to other countries, too.

I do not want any longer to make an open request for help these needs.

I'd rather ask for prayers the five-year plan for the Kingdom evangelism in Nepal with the need of $4,000 per month should be met. Pray that God connects churches, denominations, or any group or individual who are very interested in giving for the cause of the Kingdom.

Stopped by barber school to have my hair cut. While cutting hair, the student was alarmed at my question "do you remember me?" He suddenly recognized me sharing Kingdom gospel at my last visit. He called other students. The instructor with big smile and welcomed me calling "my favorite customer!".

It's time I was about to close, and as I'm stocking up at the back, a customer walks in and says loudly. "I have something to tell you."
This is the first time I've heard this in 10 years of working at the store, but I brace myself for a problem, and when I turned around, I saw that it was a customer who had come two weeks ago. I didn't remember much about him two weeks ago, so I asked him as I always do. “Did you get a gift from me?” His answer was unusual. "Yes, I am now internalizing it." Suddenly, I remembered that he was a customer I shared the gospel about two weeks ago then. Today was his third visit. I only preached the gospel of the kingdom of heaven for about two minutes, but I didn't remember much about him, even though he was handsome. but he received the gospel, digested it as his own, and was happy to come and tell me the result today, that he is now free from alcohol. The end of faith is the salvation of the soul, but how much salvation can we experience and give in the beginning and middle stages?
