Everett First Church of the Nazarene

Everett First Church of the Nazarene We are a church of people caring for people. We believe in one God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God.

We believe in Jesus Christ that He died for our sins, rose again, and is coming to take us to heaven. We believe that the Holy Spirit works the will of God in our lives. Inspired by God for our inspiration and instruction. We believe that we are born with a sin nature and that we have need for God in our lives. We believe that God has given us a choice in living a life of sin or trusting in Jesus.

We believe that each person must turn away from his or her sins and trust Christ to change him or her. We believe that when we turn and trust in Christ the old record of sin is wiped clean, that we are born anew, and that we become a part of the family of God. After being born anew, we need God's Spirit in our hearts. When we make a complete commitment to Him, He cleanses our spirit, fills us with His perfect love, and gives us the power to live victoriously. We believe the church is the community that confesses Jesus Christ as Lord. It is the covenant people of God, made new in Christ, and called together by the Holy Spirit through the Word. We believe that everyone shall face the judgment of God with its rewards and punishments. We believe that baptism is the outward symbol of the inner transformation, publicly demonstrating that we are a follower of Jesus Christ. We believe the Lord's Supper is the sacrament remembering Christ's death for our sins. All who confess Jesus as Lord are welcome to participate. We believe that God can heal. We pray for healing. We also believe that God can work through medical science.

👐✨ Youth Group tonight was such a beautiful reminder that God is still working on each one of us.

The students spent time creating with clay while reflecting on Jeremiah 18:6:

“Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand.”

Even when we feel unfinished, uncertain, or imperfect, God continues shaping us with love, purpose, and patience. 💛

It was amazing to watch the kids so engaged, creative, thoughtful, and connected during this lesson. What a powerful hands-on way to experience Scripture together!

We are so thankful for our youth, leaders, and everyone who helps make nights like this possible. 🙏✨

Here’s a Facebook-style post that sounds like you—real, encouraging, and relatable 💛

✨ Sometimes we don’t need more answers… we just need clearer vision. ✨

I’ve been sitting in Ephesians 1:15–23, and it’s hitting differently right now.

Paul doesn’t pray for people to have easier lives.
He doesn’t ask God to remove their struggles.

He prays that their eyes would be opened.

That they would SEE:
💛 the hope they have
💛 how deeply they are loved and valued
💛 and the power of God already at work in their lives

And honestly… that’s what I need right now.

Because it’s easy to get stuck in survival mode.
To feel overwhelmed, stretched thin, or like you’re just trying to get through the day.

But what if nothing is actually missing?
What if we just can’t see clearly in the middle of it all?

The same power that raised Jesus from the dead…
is the same power available to us right now.

Not when life calms down.
Not when things get easier.
Right now.

So today, my prayer is simple:
“God, open my eyes. Help me see what’s true.”

If you’re feeling tired, overwhelmed, or stuck…
you’re not alone. And you’re not without hope. 💛

As we walk through Holy Week, here are a few simple ways we can prepare our hearts for Easter…

✨ 1. Spend time in Scripture each day

Slow down and sit in the story of Jesus this week.
• Palm Sunday: Matthew 21:1–11
• Monday–Wednesday: Matthew 21–26
• Good Friday: Matthew 27
• Easter Sunday: Matthew 28

Let yourself really feel it—not just read it.

🙏 2. Make space for quiet prayer

Even just 5–10 minutes a day.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

Ask God:
• What do You want me to see this week?
• Where do I need to draw closer to You?

💛 3. Reflect on the cross (not just the celebration)

It’s easy to jump straight to Easter joy—but the cross matters deeply.

“He was pierced for our transgressions… and by His wounds we are healed.” — Isaiah 53:5

Sit in that truth for a moment.

🤝 4. Extend grace and kindness

Live out what Jesus modeled.

“Love one another as I have loved you.” — John 13:34

Who needs encouragement from you this week?

🕊️ 5. Let go of something weighing you down

This week is a powerful time to release things to God.

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7

🌅 6. Come expectant on Easter

Don’t just show up—come ready.

“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” — Matthew 28:6

Let’s walk into Easter with hearts prepared, softened, and full of hope.

Palm Sunday 🌿

I’ve been thinking about how the same crowd that shouted “Hosanna!” would later fall silent… and how easy it is for us to do the same when life gets hard.

This week is a reminder to stay close to Jesus—not just in the celebration, but in the hard moments too.

Let’s lean in this week.
Let’s not miss what He’s doing.

Grateful for a church family that walks through all of it together 💛

Christian Conduct and Human Life: Honoring the Image of God in Every Person

Christian conduct begins with how we see people. Before choices before actions before ethics there is worth. The Church of the Nazarene affirms that all human life is sacred because every person is created in the image of God.

Scripture declares “So God created mankind in His own image” Genesis 1:27. Human dignity does not come from ability productivity age or social status it comes from God Himself. Because life is God’s gift the Christian is called to honor protect and respect human life at every stage and in every condition.

Scripture consistently ties reverence for God to reverence for people. “Whoever sheds human blood by humans shall their blood be shed for in the image of God has God made mankind” Genesis 9:6. Life matters because God gives it. Jesus reaffirmed this dignity through His own ministry.

He welcomed children touched the sick lifted the poor and restored the outcast Mark 10:13 16; Luke 4:18 19. In Christ we see that love for God cannot be separated from love for neighbor. “Whatever you did for one of the least of these you did for Me” Matthew 25:40. Christian conduct therefore resists any attitude or action that devalues life.

Scripture warns against violence hatred exploitation and indifference. Jesus goes further teaching that even contempt held in the heart wounds the image of God in another Matthew 5:21 22.
