"Why has history made them European?" 🤔💭

This past Saturday, the SBC Men’s Ministry went on a deep dive into "Blacks and Christianity in Ethiopia" with Pastor Nabors. It was an eye-opening session that took us from the Kush Empire in Genesis to the Empress of Ethiopia in Acts 8.

We reclaimed the identity of the Early Church Fathers—St. Augustine, Origen, and Tertullian—recognizing them for who they truly were: African scholars. 🌍

We also learned that the Ethiopian Bible predates the King James Version by 800 years. From the Library of Alexandria to the reign of Haile Selassie, we walked through a history that is rightfully ours.

Knowledge is power, and fellowship is a blessing. Thank you, Pastor Nabors, for leading us through these truths! 🕊️✊🏾

Honoring Our Heritage, Lifting Our Voice 🙏🏽✨

As we enter the month of February, Second Baptist Church of Evanston pauses to celebrate the profound legacy, resilience, and faith of the Black community.

For us, Black History is not just a page in a textbook; it is the foundation of our sanctuary, the rhythm of our worship, and the driving force behind our commitment to justice and love in Evanston. — From the pioneers who built our church to the leaders of tomorrow sitting in our pews today, we honor the strength of those who paved the way. 💚💛❤️

"I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the Lord, and my work with my God." — Isaiah 49:4
