PYGs - First Presbyterian Church of Evanston High School Youth High School youth group meets Sundays from 4:00pm - 6:00pm (with dinner) in the church. High School Sunday School meets from 10:15-11:15 every week.

Not so Random Acts of Kindness inspired by Christ’s Love

December 1st : Let someone go ahead of you in line
Matthew 20:16 So the last will be first, and the first will be last.” Matthew 20:16

December 2nd: Make cookies for a neighbor
Galatians 5:14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

December 3rd: Do a chore for someone in your family
1 Timothy 5:8 Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

December 4th: Tape change to a vending machine
Philippians 2:4 “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

December 5th: Tell silly jokes to make someone laugh
Psalms 126:2 Then our mouths were filled with laughter; our tongues sang for joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord had done great things for them.”

December 6th: Donate food to your local food pantry
Matthew 25:34-36 ”Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

December 7th: Give a compliment to a friend
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

December 8th: Thank your teacher
Proverbs 16:23-24 From a wise mind comes wise speech; the words of the wise are persuasive. Kind words are like honey–sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.

December 9th: Leave a happy note somewhere for someone to find
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.

December 10th: Feed the birds
Proverbs 12:10 The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.

December 11th: Share candy with 5 people you don’t normally talk to
Matthew 5:40-42 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

December 12th: Hold the door for someone
1 Corinthians 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

December 13th: Call a relative to say hello
Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

December 14th: Pay for a stranger’s item today
2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

December 15th: Write a card to a 1st responder (police, fire, nurse, paramedic). Give it to the first one you see.
Ephesians 2:7-8 In order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.

December 16th: Take a cute photo of someone you love and send it to them
Proverbs 27:9 The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.

December 17th: Buy a meal for a homeless person
Deuteronomy 15:11 There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore, I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land.

December 18th: Pick up litter
Numbers 35:33-34 Do not pollute the land where you are. Bloodshed pollutes the land, and atonement cannot be made for the land on which blood has been shed, except by the blood of the one who shed it. 34 Do not defile the land where you live and where I dwell, for I, the LORD, dwell among the Israelites.

December 19th: Smile at everyone you see today
Luke 6:35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.

December 20th: Speak out when you witness an injustice
Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

December 21st: Practice a random act of kindness inspired by the Holy Spirit
Galatians 6:9 So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.

December 22nd: Give treats to your mail carrier
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

December 23rd: Give someone the benefit of the doubt
Ephesians 4:31-32 All bitterness, anger and wrath, shouting and slander must be removed from you, along with all malice. And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.

December 24th: Do a secret act of kindness for someone
Colossians 3:12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;

December 25th: Do something that is unexpectedly kind for someone
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
