World Refugee Sunday, recognized on any Sunday in June, provides Christians the opportunity to learn about and show compassion for refugees around the world.

This year, we'll observe World Refugee Sunday on June 7 with an interactive workshop and dialogue. "Faith-Based Conversations on Welcoming the Stranger" will be hosted by Exodus World Services in our small auditorium immediately after the second service.

Please join us for a conversation on the process of U.S. immigration and our shared Biblical values of caring for the stranger in our midst. After a short presentation, small groups will explore how faith informs our response to welcoming the stranger.

All are welcomed to join us. It would help us with set up if you registered ahead of time. Register here: https://tinyurl.com/y5sk35b6

Evanston Vineyard has always been a kind of “cathedral” church - not in the architectural sense, but in spirit. A cathedral is a presence in its city, a place where what happens inside is as important as what is seen from the outside, and it’s a home you return to, even after leaving.

Cathedrals are not built in a day. They are built by generations of ordinary people each adding a brick and trusting that God will shape something beautiful and lasting. With a total goal of $2,000,000, Strengthened for Sending invites us to do the same - to add three ordinary bricks to God’s extraordinary work.

Ted Kim, our Senior Pastor often reminds us, “It’s the small things that make life livable.” The ordinary rhythms of brushing our teeth, sending an email, and walking the dog may seem insignificant. So too may offering a breath prayer at school drop-off or letting a verse of Scripture settle into our hearts. Yet repeated day after day, these small practices quietly form us into the people we become. They do their work on us silently, often without our awareness.

The same is true for the life of the church. The ordinary and essential sustain us.

The roof over our heads, the air that keeps this place warm in the winter and cool in the summer, the financial margin that allows us to respond to needs without hesitation. These are simple things. And yet, they are precisely the things God uses to create a home where formation, belonging, and mission can thrive.

Biblical justice is the restoration of God’s intention for all of creation as displayed in Genesis 1. Murder is an injustice and we lament loss of life.

Join us as we meet at the sites of those in our local community who have been killed by gun violence. We pray for those impacted, for God's mercy, and for His kingdom to come here in our neighborhoods as it is in heaven. For more info visit: https://tinyurl.com/3fsxwtw2
