GOD IS BIGGER THAN OUR BINARIES
A Liturgy for Pride Month, written by Cassidhe Hart

O Lord, our Lord,
How majestic is your name in all the Earth!
You have designed a world that qu**rs our expectations,
and we stand in wonder.
For the male seahorses who give birth,
we offer our wonder and our gratitude.
For the mussels who change their s*x,
again and again,
to meet the ecosystem's needs,
we offer our wonder and our gratitude.
For female snakes who can reproduce entirely on their own,
we offer our wonder and our gratitude.
For the mushroom species that have tens of thousands of genetic s*xes,
we offer our wonder and our gratitude.
For the lions who live in a pride together
and collectively raise their young,
we offer our wonder and our gratitude.
For the caterpillars that completely dissolve,
transform their bodies, and emerge as something entirely new,
we offer our wonder and our gratitude.
For the cottonwood trees with both male and female parts,
we offer our wonder and our gratitude.
For the majority of bees we call female
who do not take part in any kind of reproduction,
we offer our wonder and our gratitude.
For a world that defies our attempts to contain and categorize,
we offer our wonder and our gratitude.
Forgive us when we assume reality fits into our own understanding.
Forgive us.
Forgive us when we seek to limit the experiences of your beloved children.
Forgive us.
Grow in us an expansive sense of celebration,
and empower all creation
to magnify your name in all the Earth.

All are welcome to join us in person or on Zoom. Childcare for pre-K and kindergarteners will be provided in the latter part of the service. Guests are always warmly welcomed!

THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 14

Please come to this year's Juneteenth Service. We rejoice that there have been some important victories on the "Freedom Road" as we recognize the current need to continue the "Struggle for Justice." We will welcome a guest preacher, Michael Russell from Crossroads Antiracism Organizing and Training, and, of course, music and dance. The sermon title is "Peace and the Sword" with meditations on Matthew 10:26-39. This is an important time to remember and recognize that our congregation has named "Working Against Racism" as one of our seven creedal statements. To learn more about Michael and his work with Crosswords, a brief introduction is available via a link on the RPC website: https://www.rebaplacechurch.org/post/this-sunday-jun-14

Join us in person or on Zoom. Childcare for pre-K and kindergarteners will be provided in the latter part of the service. Guests are warmly welcomed!
