A new historical display is up in the Narthex. Rev. Benjamin J. Radford was born in Walnut Grove in 1838. During his long life - 94 years - he was a soldier, minister, professor of Latin,
writer, historian, newspaper editor, and a poet. One of his lasting legacies is his writings - including an autobiography, newspaper columns, and a published book of poems.

Treasures from the Archives
There is a new display in the Narthex. From 1939 to 1954 our church supported a Living Link missionary. This partnership was designed to form a personal connection between the congregation and the missionary field. Our church selected medical missionary Dr. W. Howard Horner. His wife, Dr Marjorie Crittenden Horner, served alongside him. They were stationed at Wema, Congo, Africa, and established a hospital there. They regularly wrote letters to the congregation and visited every furlough to give updates on their work. We supported them with finances, supplies, and support. The focal point of the display is a framed, hand-drawn map of the Wema mission. The Horners likely gave this to us on one of their visits. The Wema Hospital still operates today with Disciples of Christ support.
