God gave this message to Ezekiel somewhere around 600 years before Jesus came to earth in the form of man. There are at least two strong things to learn here.
First, while God is a God of love, grace, and mercy, He is also the God of justice. Where individuals or nations continuously refuse to repent and reject Him, there will be a tremendous price to pay. "For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." Hebrews 10:30-31.
The second thing about this is because of His great mercy, He is always searching for someone who will stand for Him and uphold His ways so He does not have to destroy individuals or nations. If He finds someone, He relents and forgives.
Our nation is spiraling out of control away from God. Everywhere we turn, every day there is something new Satan has convinced someone to try and the people run to it. If the CHURCH (which is the body of Christ and is not limited to any religious denomination) does not rise up and stand in the gap, our nation will be destroyed. It takes each of us as individuals saying "No" to the ways of the world and "Yes" to God and God alone. Sitting on your couch or even in a church pew every Sunday won't get it done if that's all you ever do! We have to take a stand for Christ and stand until the King comes!
