Saint of the Day: Saint William of Vercelli was an Italian pilgrim, hermit, and founder of the Congregation of Montevergine. Born around 1085, Saint William devoted his life to prayer, penance, and guiding others toward deeper holiness. Known for his humility and devotion to God, he established monasteries that became places of faith and spiritual renewal. The Church remembers him as a witness to perseverance, simplicity, and a life fully centered on Christ.

Today, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist, the prophet chosen by God to prepare the way for Jesus Christ. Born to Saints Zechariah and Elizabeth through God’s miraculous intervention, Saint John the Baptist preached repentance, called hearts to conversion, and pointed others toward the coming Messiah. His life reminds us to boldly witness to Christ and echo his humble words: “He must increase, but I must decrease.”

Saint of the Day: Saint John Fisher (1469–1535) was an English bishop, theologian, and cardinal who faithfully defended the teachings of the Catholic Church during the English Reformation. As Bishop of Rochester, he opposed King Henry VIII’s break from Rome and refused to recognize the king as head of the Church in England. Because of his steadfast faith and loyalty to the Pope, he was imprisoned in the Tower of London and executed on June 22, 1535. Honored as a martyr alongside his friend St. Thomas More, St. John Fisher is the patron saint of the Diocese of Rochester, Catholic bishops, and those who suffer persecution for defending the Catholic faith.

Saint of the Day: Saint Thomas More (1478–1535) was an English lawyer, scholar, husband, and faithful servant of the Church who courageously defended the Catholic faith during a time of political turmoil in England. Serving as Lord Chancellor under King Henry VIII, he refused to abandon the authority of the Pope or compromise his conscience, even at the cost of his life. Imprisoned and eventually executed for his fidelity to Christ and the Church, Saint Thomas More is remembered as a martyr and the patron saint of lawyers, judges, statesmen, and politicians.
