This Sunday, 6/25/23, we say goodbye to Pastor Dan and Barb Schlewitz. After 40 years of ministry, 21 of those with us at Our Redeemer, Pastor Dan is retiring. Instead of a morning service, we will meet at 3:00pm for Holden Evening Prayer and communion. The service will be followed by a reception full of pulled pork sammies and memories. If you have one, wear your favorite Hawaiian/aloha or baseball shirt. Call the office, 541-688-2027, or send an email to [email protected] with any questions about the event.

Yesterday was a day to show our support for our Jewish neighbors as they have been burdened with an increase in antisemitic activities in the Eugene area. Several Neo-Nazi groups declared yesterday to be a "National Day of Hate" and so forty people representing five of our area ELCA churches gathered outside Temple Beth Israel singing psalms and conversing with the people.

There has been an alarming rise of active antisemitism in the Eugene area over the past few weeks as hateful flyers have been distributed in several neighborhoods.
As we enter into the season of Lent, it is essential that Christians repent of our complicity, whether silently or actively, in this history of hatred. To repent means more than saying “Sorry”. It means that we must “turn around” and go a new direction. It means that we must publicly and loudly declare that our Jewish neighbors are indeed beloved of God—the one God—whom both Jews and Christians worship and that antisemitism has no place in the life of Christian faith..
In our baptismal covenant, we make the promise to “serve all people, following the example of Jesus, and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth.” Let us take our cue from the words of the prophet Micah: “What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.”

God. Loves. You.

Not even three years into the new year and you've broken your resolution? Doesn't matter.

God. Loves. You.

There's nothing you can do to earn God's love and nothing you can do to separate yourself from it. So in 2023, why not embrace Ditch Your Resolution Day? Consider new ways of living your faith. Choose a word for the year. Seek out different viewpoints. Pick a cause to champion. Find peace in doing nothing. Love one another.

🎶 On the twelfth day of Christmas, remember God gave us all, twelve disciples just like us 🎶

Perfectly human, perfectly flawed, the twelve disciples named in the gospels represent all of Jesus' followers... including the women who made his ministry possible. They bicker and betray, lie and loath, but also learn and laugh and feast and rejoice and love.
