John 13:3–5 reminds us that Jesus, knowing that all power was in His hands, laid aside His garments, picked up a towel, knelt down, and washed the feet of His disciples.
What a picture of true leadership. True humility. True love.
There is power in the towel. There is ministry in serving. There is greatness in being willing to kneel so that someone else can be strengthened, cleansed, restored, and reminded that they are loved.
Today was more than a foot-washing ceremony. It was hands serving.
“He poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet…” — John 13:5
May we never become so elevated that we forget how to kneel. May we never become so gifted that we forget how to serve. May we never become so busy doing ministry that we forget the heart of ministry.
The towel is still calling. Serve like Jesus. Love like Jesus. Lead like Jesus.
