Beginning in June 2022, the new (at the time) Blue Springs Cemetery leadership communicated changes in burial procedures, contacts, etc. to all local area funeral homes who had buried individuals in the cemetery. These communications have occurred via regular mail, email, and telephone. A current copy of that communication as of May 2026 is below. Since we have seen posts where past leaders of the cemetery are being bothered by continued contacts, we will re-communicate to all funeral homes. However, we cannot control what funeral homes do, only what we do. Please contact us by email at [email protected] or private message us here on Facebook. You may also contact Geralyn Franklin, President, at 936-371-0549 if you have any questions or need additional information.

Honoring our veterans for Memorial Day . . . Thanks to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #113 and community volunteers for putting American flags on our fence and the graves of veterans . . .

Per Maryanne Theriot from a post on Etoile Extra:

Thank you to George Gray and Sara Burnett and her husband for coming out and helping place flags on the fence line and the graves of our veterans at Blue Springs Cemetery. Your help was greatly appreciated. Thank you again.

REMINDER FOR TOMORROW, MAY 20, AT 7:30 AM:

Maryanne Theriot shared this notice in Etoile Extra last week so we wanted to remind you.

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #113 will be at Blue Springs Cemetery on May 20, 2026 at 7:30 am to put flags on the graves of our veterans. This was a favorite project of Juice. She always made sure we had lots of help. We would appreciate any of you in Etoile coming out to help. We put the flags on the graves and decorate the fence line. Just show up. We supply the flags. We just need the help. Hope to see you there!

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED! This is a wonderful tradition to honor our veterans!

We are so thankful for a cool, cloudy morning for today’s Spring 2026 Clean Up Day. No rain yet!

What would we do without our wonderful volunteers? Special thanks to Andy, George, and Geralyn for taking time to “Keep Blue Springs Cemetery Beautiful”! And kudos to Ace for keeping the cemetery mowed and maintained!

Trying to decide what type of flowers to buy to honor your loved ones in the cemetery? I highly recommend these UV Resistant ones available from Hobby Lobby (they sell out quickly when available but you can get them for 40-percent-off the $13.99 price during sales), Amazon, and other retailers. They are made of a heavy plastic and do not fade. The ones in the photos were purchased last spring and used until this past fall before being returned this spring. They still look brand new.

To keep flowers secure in urns, be sure to use soft or hard flower foam cut into smaller pieces to fit. Secure the artificial flowers in these pieces in the urn. Add small rocks or pebbles to better secure the flowers in the urn. If the urn has a drainage valve, open it to let rainwater flow through. The rocks help keep the flowers in place during hard rains and strong winds.

If you bring flowers in vases to sit on the side of a memorial monument, adding small rocks or pebbles to give the vase more weight will also keep it from blowing away in our strong winds.
