One of my favorite cathedrals in all the world is the Romanesque-Gothic Duomo di Santa Maria Assunta in Siena in the Tuscany region of central Italy.

The revitalized St. John's Socials are up and running as members of the congregation gather in private homes for a time of refreshment and fellowship. We are delighted to see these gatherings come to life, mixing up social groups so that we can meet new people and get to know each other better. Thanks to the Roemhilds for hosting this gathering and to all who have opened their homes for these events.

It was a day of celebrations at St. John's today as we thanked our choir for a year of uplifting and inspiring music, and we recognized all of our graduates as they complete their years of study in high school, college, and grad school. As another program year comes to an end, our hearts are filled with gratitude for the many blessings we have received as people of God in this place.

We hosted an informative and interesting conversation with the Connecticut Council for Interreligious Understanding with representatives from the Hindu, Jewish, and Christian traditions. CCIU's tagline is "to love your neigbor, know your neighbor." We hope this conversation helped us know each other just a bit better.

O Judge of the nations, we remember before you with grateful hearts the men and women of our country who in the day of decision ventured much for the liberties we now enjoy. Grant that we may not rest until all the people of this land share the
benefits of true freedom and gladly accept its disciplines. This we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
