A Prayer for the 25th Anniversary of 9/11:

We pause on this anniversary to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We lift up the souls who perished in New York, at the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania. Welcome them into your loving care. We pray for the families and friends who still carry the weight of grief and loss. Grant them comfort, strength, and peace. We give thanks for the first responders and ordinary citizens who showed extraordinary courage, running toward danger to save others. Help us to live with compassion, to reject hatred and violence, and to work together for a world of justice and peace. Amen.

Twenty-five years on, we live in a world shaped by 9/11. Our lament will never end for those who died in the attacks, those who gave of their lives in the days and weeks following, and those who still suffer. Our grief is particularly sharp on this historic anniversary.

During Mr. Elliot's time (1957-1966), several boys were selected as "Honor Boys." This still hangs in our Choir Room.

Almighty God, you have so linked our lives one with another that all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives: So guide us in the work we do, that we may do it not for self alone, but for the common good; and, as we seek a proper return for our own labor, make us mindful of the rightful aspirations of other workers, and arouse our concern for those who are out of work; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
